I am sure all of us at one time or another, when we were bored, would take a pencil and just doodle-----just scribble or make rough drawings about nothing in particular.
Well, now that we have reached a Police State in this country, you will have to be careful of what you do----even with a pencil and pen.
Yes, folks, you can get yourself a 10 year prison sentence just by sitting in the comfort of your favorite chair, in your own house. No need to rob a bank or assault anyone, just use your imagination and sketch something the government does not approve of.
One of the men with the obscene drawings, was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison in Dallas last month for having the comic book. That was more time than he got for having actual child pornography
This approaches a "thought crime" situation and should make us all think about the enormous power we have given our own government.

Such legislation such as the Protect Act is a form of a Frankenstein monster; because of our fears the act was passed and here we are, and the monster is seemingly out of control.

Due to my increased paranoia, anxiety, and a panic attack over the weekend, my psychiatrist has put me back in a full dose of Zyprexa until further notice. Every time I think I'm getting ahead something happens and it's back to square one. I knew he was gonna do this but I can't help feeling disappointed. It is what it is.
People in power can do really terrible things... I used to volunteer as an advocate at a wrongful conviction organization and going through mail to see what cases met their criteria was one of my jobs and some of the things that go on are bloody awful
I hope people really stand up to this as best that they can.... I really find this horrific.... Very sad
I will bow out of this group now... I just had to comment... I don't regularly lurk here however due to a keen interest in injustice I do visit now and then.... This is a very important group.... xo
I am not sure how to ring in.
Do I agree with big government and big brother? No. A lot of people don’t and shouldn’t. It is what this country was supposedly founded on.
I also don’t want to sound like the wrong wet blanket either. However, I have to say that either we that have been locked up have forgotten about a lot of the prison culture, or there are some that have never been locked up have no clue as to what goes on the inside.
That comic book I read about in the article that was passed around amongst inmates sent chills up my spine in a negative way.

What a lot of people don’t know that read that article is that they are thinking that it is some crude drawing. Which it may or may not be but we don’t and won’t know from the article or otherwise. I do remember in prison that there were definitely talented artists. I know that I have told some guys that they could make a serious living off of their talent.
Talents can be used for good and bad just like anything. It sickens me to think those pictures were drawn as true to life as they could be possibly drawn.
Can the drawings be likened to a police sketch? Dunno. Are the drawings freakishly real? Dunno. I do remember seeing naked women tattoos on guys in prison that sometimes they were of a made up likeness of a woman you have never met just the same as there were some that looked exactly like someone you know.
Are they employing the *“Looks Like a Duck” or *“Elephant Test”? (ibid.)(<-in the same place. Looked up ibid. years ago and glad I did… cuz it’s used a lot…lol.) We don’t know because we haven’t and do not want to see the pictures. Yes, we are placing our trust whether completely or with worry and fear on the powers to be to get it right.
One thing to consider… would you like to be the one who has to make a judgement by looking at something that you don’t want to look at? It would be hard for any human being with a heart.
The way prison works is that various inmates have various talents. Whether it’s fixing your broken radio, cooking, or drawing for you. Some have their own excellent drawing talents. Or for a few stamps, you can pay someone to draw something for you. I am most definitely not a cop and I disliked most C.O.’s because they would break rules too. However, because of the experiences I experienced (not this particular thing mind you) and based on what the article said that they were exchanging and selling these comics back and forth, I am going to speak up with some confidence and say that these were definitely not appropriate whatsoever because of the quality of the items. You don’t pay for or exchange things that are ambiguous or vague.
For this we must speak against. For this we say that these guys need extremely intense one on one psychiatric help, if for any reason, God help us we pray, that these knuckleheads eventually get out and do not offend again.
These are the people that are making things bad for us all.
We HAVE to speak against any more victims being victimized whether they are real or not. Doesn’t everyone know that not only are the real victims, the victims’ families, the one who offends and their families as well. I feel sorry for the C.O. that came up upon this situation and had to look at what he looked at. It wasn’t until I got locked up I affected those that were responsible for looking over any evidences in my case. It’s a snowball effect when we talk about how many victims are created. But this can be on any subject mind you.
If you are a prayer warrior, please pray for all involved. Pray that these guys or anyone for that matter, never offend again.
