I bet some of those people went back to prison for violating their probation... because Florida makes it almost impossible to live a normal life after you're released. I've seen it before where it's said that because they went back to prison they must have committed a crime against a child again. I'm so glad my son is coming here to Philly and doesn't have to be stuck down there.

The truth doesn't matter to these politicians. The media publicizes these myths because sensationalism sells papers, and lawmakers act on these myths to reassure their re-election.

The politicians are perfectly content with all the hysteria because they know the sheeple will be grateful when they pass these laws to "protect the children." In turn, that gratitude will translate into more votes for these "brave and heroic politicians" who saved the day. As a result the politicians get re-elected, which is the goal of any politician anyway. A hard day's work would kill most of these lazy lawmakers, so they strive to keep their cushy jobs.

In the next election year, the process will be repeated. Wash, rinse, and repeat. It seems to work every time, so there is no need for the politicians to change a thing. Why abandon what works?

The idea is a tried and true axiom-----create a false hysteria, create a situation that does not exist; then you will be hailed as saviors when you pass a law to combat a problem that never existed in the first place.

They did this in the War on Drugs, they are doing this in the War on Child Pornography and they will continue to do this in the War on Sex Offenders until the voters wise up. The people of this country are finally beginning to wise up in the War on Drugs, so a couple of other "wars" had to be created to keep the money flowing; hence, the War on Child Pornography and the War on Sex Offenders.

Also, there are too many people and groups of people who are making money by exploiting these myths. Parole officers, law enforcement, psychologists, GPS manufacturers, polygraphers, and private prisons all benefit from this hysteria. Millions of dollars in the form of federal grants are given to law enforcement and groups like the Center for Missing and Exploited Children every year to fight this problem of sex abuse in this country.

And lets not forget the FBI, the ICE, and all the other three-lettered agencies that undoubtedly profit from keeping this hysteria going. They want their piece of the pie. They want to make enough arrests to show the public that they are doing something, but not so many arrests to completely eradicate the problem.

So it is really not difficult to understand if you really analyze the situation.

This all stems from the lust for power and money.
