The Books seek fame and fortune at the expense of others by having a one-sided crusade. Unfortunately, few people understand how distorted her perspective is. Her view of "positive" is only her side of the story. That is the scary part. She is way too young to be able to see beyond her own nose and her daddy exploits that.

“Political points?" she told the Miami New Times. "I want to be clear about one thing. I was raped every day for six years, and they were the six most horrible and horrific years of my life. I felt guilty, ashamed, invisible, bad, dirty, hurt and afraid every single day from the time that I was 11 until I was 16 ... Children in every community on the planet are also enduring the pain I suffered. I am trying to turn my personal pain into something positive and hopefully prevent this from happening to others."

You can expect at least some variation of this quote every time she faces political heat.

So she's taking her personal life experience and injecting it into Floriduh policy and laws. I guess that's what law making is all about.
I'm so glad I got my son out of that state or he'd be living in a tent in the swamp.. he would probably have killed himself by now. Seriously, he would have killed himself. Who can live with all that crap that goes on down there.
At least here he has a job, a nice home to live in, he goes to Kung Fu 6 days a week and has some kind of life. It's so sad that thousands of RSO have to deal with the bull shit that goes on down there. I'm sure she'll win because they all like that kind of thing down there.

Lauren is a perfect example of what I call the "victimized victim." Everyone is victimized at some point in their life in some way. Granted, what happened to Lauren was horrible. However, she should have been supported to cope with and release her victim role, rather than make it the definition of her life.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of people out there in this situation. Stuck in victim mentality. Some, such as Lauren, use it to manipulate others. There's nothing wrong with writing a book and talking in public, but to use the public for personal gain, manipulate others with guilt (as in oncefallen's above quote) is just pathetic.

I do feel sorry for her, but I sure would not want her in a position of power pulling that garbage!

Erin Merryn is good example of someone who moved from victim to survivor. She has taken what happened to her to actually do good - to educate children and parents to help stop and prevent sexual abuse.
