Still I hope some good came from it.
If just a handful of people opened their eyes to the possibility that what we are doing isn't working then I consider it a victory.
I was vocal in the comments of as many sites as I had time for and my 'mommy's board' as well that I supported him.
I wish he hadn't brought race into it but still. With each headline I hope we get an inch closer.
Why aren't these images being taken off? Even sites like Pinterest and Tumblr ( so I've been told)
The Internet consists of thousands---millions actually---- of computers all over the world called servers. When you visit this forum, it is on a server owned by the DS people. When you go to the CNN site, their data is on a different server. If you access ESPN to check the latest NFL score, it is on another server. But many servers "serving up" or making child porn available are housed on computers overseas in countries over which the USA has no jurisdiction. If a server in Russia is making child porn available, there is not much the United States can do.
There is just too much child porn material to ever clean up the mess. Every time someone downloads a CP image, it is a copy of the CP that they are downloading. The original image is copied and stays intact. So you now have millions of images somewhere in the world. If all those images were downloaded one time, you would have twice the amount of child pornography. Too much CP to ever clean up.
With the advent of web cams, the production of CP by teens has skyrocketed. A girl, sometimes girls as young as 12 years old, will get on their web cams or a social site, strip, and do all kinds of things for either their boyfriend or whomever. Maybe it is a joke to them, but it still creates video files of underage people doing sexual acts. Copies are made of her "performance" and distributed all over the Internet. With all the teens---even boys----making these images and videos and distributing them to their friends, the chances of all the child porn being eradicated is zero.
The people-----the really bad guys----who rape these children and the hard core child porn enthusiasts use drastic means to keep from being caught. They use special software and hide their IP addresses so it is difficult to catch them.
But the everyday guy does not used these techniques because of lack on computer knowledge and they are the "low hanging fruit." They are the ones getting caught.
If each and every ISP blocked CP images and videos by comparing the incoming images' hash values with the hash values of know CP, that would help, but since every download is a copy, it would not cure the problem.
Child pornography is here to stay.

Must read. Far and away the best I’ve seen about the Grisham controversy.
Distribute widely!

In defense of John Grisham
By Radley Balko
The Internet is enjoying a good piling on right now at the expense of author John Grisham. In an interview with the Telegraph, Grisham talked about over-incarceration in America. As part of that discussion, Grisham also mentioned that he thinks the laws and sentences for viewing or possessing child pornography are excessive. Cue the Internet outrage machine.

But Grisham is hardly alone in this view. According to a 2010 survey by the U.S. Sentencing Commission, 71 percent of federal judges think the federal mandatory minimum for receipt of child pornography is too severe. Are seven in 10 federal judges perverts and pedophiles too? Should their homes also be raided by the FBI? Do they also have no regard for the victimization of children?
