Tough to find a breakdown in all the numbers unless someone or a group painstakingly went through state by state to get all the offenders categorized. I know that when our station covered the Cheng case in MA our reporter cited some statistic that said teens posing as adults on adult websites had more than doubled in five years. I'm guessing the numbers are from prosecutions of adults getting ensnared by teens.

I already did a statistical analysis of the sex offenders in Oklahoma a couple of years ago. I went through every registrant in the state of Oklahoma to find this data, so I know it is accurate at least for Oklahoma.

This may not cut and paste work a damn, and if not, I will fix it.

This just goes to one of my long standing points of contention with the people on the registry who are not on it for an R&J crime say the registry is broken because of R&J crimes. It is a terrible argument because most people agree that putting a 18 year old on the registry for consensual sex with a 16 year old isn't a good thing. Not only does this sound like sex offenders and the people who support them are minimizing their crimes but big problem is that it doesn't talk about why it's broken for the majority of people on the registry who are on there for more serious crimes.

We have much better arguments than this that don't open us up to people saying we are trying to minimize our crime!

My statistical table does not look like I would like, but when I pasted it, it messed up the table.

Anyway, you can see the crime, followed by the number of offenders in each category, followed by the percentage of the total sex offenders.

The manner in which Oklahoma categorized offenders is a little odd, in that the may have several categories that should probably be lumped together. One example, is that "soliciting for indecent photos", "soliciting for indecent exposure" and "soliciting sexual contact of communication with minor by use of technology" should have probably all been placed in one group dealing with solicitation crimes.

This is unavoidable, as this is how Oklahoma classifies their offenders.

Does Oklahoma have something akin to a rape in the third for teenage sex where one is older?

No, they only have statutes that deal with first degree and second degree rape; also statutory rape.

No third degree rape that I am aware of.

Mine would have been... If there was a RJ provision for CP. (There's not)

Rew... If your data was in a spread sheet saving a copy as Comma Separated Values would make copy paste a bit better. It it's in a word doc you could try pasting to a spread sheet and see if it formats.

Oklahoma classifies statutory rape as second degree rape. Statutory rape in Oklahoma IS second degree rape. No third degree rape.

The age of consent in Oklahoma is 16 years of age. If the minor is under the age of 14, even seemingly “consensual” sex is charged as first degree rape. If the minor involved is aged 14 or 15, the adult partner is charged with second degree rape, commonly known as “statutory rape.”

To Oklahoma's credit, they do have a stipulation regarding R&J crimes. In Oklahoma, there is a Romeo and Juliet exemption for consensual sex between two minors who are at least 14 but younger than 18.

The CP charges are categorized as "Aggravated Pornography", "Importing or Distributing Obscene Materials or Child Pornography", "Purchase, Procurement, or Possession of Child Pornography", "Publication or Distribution of Child Pornography", " "Procure, Produce, Distribute, Possess Child Pornography "or "Preparing/Dist/Exhibit Obscene Material."

The aggravated surely refers to the fact that in Oklahoma, if more than 100 illegal images are found, they can file an "aggravated" charge. Why all the other categories were not all lumped into just "child pornography" charges, I do not know.
