housing ~~~~Our son arrives in 19 days !!!

So I thought of every conceivable way to ask the question and all I get is the posts to keep out sex offenders from residencies ??? We have to break our lease to go somewhere ? that will accept our son and I have been looking all day ? I am in Texas this is brand new to me . I don't even know anyone who has to register so I am pulling my hair out trying to even get us all into an extended stay . My prayer is that HE will have an idea i could not come up with . His Dad and I are in apartments that won't even let him visit us let alone live with a few weeks ....and we want to help him but cant pay two rents so we all got to go """somewhere"""" I was gonna write or call the police department next . was hoping some fellow Texan might have a lead or a clue . I appreciate any advice at all thank you for reading my post . wazette

Hey wazette--I am in Texas--live in the Austin area. Where are you? My hub has an SO who works for him and he lives pretty rurally in the hill country. He and his wife and two kids live in a double wide trailer. And they seem to be pretty content. I can ask hub to see if can offer any "street" advice about where to live. Have you been combing Craigs List looking for a house or apartment (or mobile home) that is a little rural? That might be easier. And congratulations on your son getting out--I know it will mean a lot.

thank you everyone I was advised by a staff at new name texas to look at the registry as well as by rew I think? and low and behold ~~~~~~~they are like santa claus everywhere I have addresses to look into now ....whew! three in a van with two cats could get interesting glad that's not a first choice now . I sadly am gonna have to break our lease that would of been up in June . the high hope of the matter would be my husband lands a job he has applied for in Hialeah at schwarz partners packaging florida ....they would pay to move us so might get that last three months done faster that way ? its all in Gods hands we are gonna land where we are supposed to land His son is not a child anymore so he wont need us for too long before he gets a life apart . and if he does linger cool three is company . I stay at home "disabled now 9 years " so I can manage to guys stuff as easy as one . the new of this has really gotten me out of joint ~~~~I believe we can do well and I had no idea how bad families of accused and of the admitted offenders was . Bless your hearts . I used to have a job very special and rewarding working for the developmentally disabled in new mexico the adults ...my point being the association to those precious lives would cause me to become as invisible and ignored and treated as badly as they were by the public at large ....So what offender families go through in their lives must be similar? be the us against them where ever we go huh? wow good thing we invited God along for the adventure :)

You said it's a job in Florida? And you're in Texas? I know Texas can be hard for SOs but Floriduh is the worse. I escaped from there and brought my son to PA.

I was worried, just as you are now, about finding a home there.

There is no way I can emphasize that enough. They are crazy down there in Florida----utterly insane when it comes to sex offender legislation.

They continue to pass more and more restrictions and guess what? Most all will be retroactive and will affect your husband and your family.

Don't even entertain the idea of moving to Florida. If you do, it will be the worst mistake you could ever make.

Please, stay away from Florida.
