What about the Amendments from Idiot Vitter? Did that get defeated as well?

I don't know for sure. I'm thinking the entire thing..amendments and all are out. So, if nothing else, this sends a BIG message to scumbags like Vitter that these shenanigans won't be tolerated by the American people!

Very good news....

The bill has been defeated.

The Republicans did their best to push this thing through but it did not pass; not the amendments or anything.

I have been harping for months, even years, that the Republican party is our enemy and usually votes for any bill that makes it tougher for felons, including sex offenders.

I hope people take note of which party was attempting to push this bill through and which party opposed it.

I am happy---jubilant---for everyone who would have been affected by this bill. Even though it would not have affected me personally, this truly made my day.

I think somebody did a lot of calling because I was almost positive this bill would pass. The fact that the Democrats defected and withdrew their support within the past few days, particularly because of the amendment that would deny food stamps to felons, tell me that people working in large numbers for a cause can affect a change.

This shows me that we can also affect a change in these registry laws if, despite our differences, we can work together as a unit.

Just happy for everyone; a great victory for the common people today.

Proof positive that activism works.

While this is good news for now, I believe it is clear that this country is on a collision course with reality.

I read - and do not know if this is true - that close to 50 million Americans are receiving food stamps. One in 6 families. The number of American Food Stamp recipients eclipses the entire population of Spain. Fraud is rampant.

At some point the printing presses in the Fed's basement are going to run out of ink. Then what?
