As we head into the Memorial Day weekend, I would like to share a thought with everyone
When I first began posting on these boards almost two years ago, I met a lot of ladies---and some registrants---who were overwhelmed, blindsided, angry, sad and full of grief when dealing with the fact that a loved one was either in prison or dealing with all the sex offender restrictions.
Many have told me that they are not sure they can make it through this.
The same ladies I met two years ago have now learned so much about the system and are now able to stand on their own two feet without feeling dread for the future. Knowledge is power and they have been granted the wisdom needed to cope with this mess.
I could name names, but you know who you are.
Now I notice that there are some new posters on the board. Guess what? The same people I was helping a year or so ago---the same ladies that were fearful of the future---are now helping other newbies. They have grown strong.
What does this tell me? It tells me that there is indeed a light at the end of this dark tunnel, that people who once were not sure they could make it through this saga, are now some of the leaders, giving comfort to others.
If every situation was hopeless, the older posters of the board who are now helping the newbies would have fallen by the wayside long ago.
We WILL make it through this. No, it will not be easy, but it is doable. We just need to stick together and educate each other with facts and support.
The newbies of today will be the support people of tomorrow.
Let's keep the hope going.

And let's make sure this group never goes away because we all still need it! Rew is always the cheerleader for us moms - thanks Rew!

I'm committed to advocating wherever I can and working to change the oppressive registry laws. So thankful that there is a place like this to find support.
One thing we must never forget is this: We NEED each other. No one person here is more important than any one else. We are all NEEDED and everyone here brings something to the table. We are all equal.
We need the newbies, the veterans, the mothers, the dads, the wives, the girlfriends, the family members and the registrants to diversify this board. We need each other because in certain situations that may come up we can put ourselves in each others shoes to understand all this mess better.
We support each other in times of need, but we also LEARN from each other. In my time here I have learned so much and I was the guy that went to prison and was registering for 14 years. The ladies here have enlightened me on more than one occasion and I have learned from the registrants. Many times while reading what another poster has written, I have looked at something from a different angle and gotten a better perspective of things. We are never too old to learn.
The best thing about this board is that a new person----whose feelings are already frayed--- can come here and talk to us, tell us his or her story, and not have to worry about being ridiculed or made fun of if she does not say everything perfect. This is a SAFE forum and I hope we keep it that way.

If you will look on each poster's profile page, many times it lists the state they are in. If you have a state questions, you can then message that person if it is a specific state issue you need help with.
If we cannot answer your questions, many times we can either find the answer for you or steer you in the direction where the answer can be found.
We are not attorneys but we do know a little about the law.
This is why I say that everyone on this board is important. Everyone brings their knowledge to the table, we put all that knowledge together and attempt to help each other cope with our situation.
Pretty neat how it works, isn't it?
