My husband has not had to sign anything as of yet. But, he has been given a list each year and a lecture including staying out of the candy isle in any store. Most of what is on the list you have is what he has been told. But, he has not been told to stay home the entire day. But, figure that will be coming at some point.

Yah all pro or parolees have to sign form agreement for halloween rules and curfew lock down each state .hubby had to .):its requirement .we in tenn.its gotten worst here .curfew days been extended this year .more days they added in tenn .to me it should be just that day if had to be ..and if you havr children.there should be a clause thst if you have a child .we can have candy in our home .even if theres no trick treating or door answering ..so our son wil get to have candy til oct 23 rd . It affects the families .and they dont care. .so we all locked down .no throwing the balls in yard with daddy when hes home .stuck in house .they took the right away .and dont care. Yes be cautious .but they imprison our loved ones and us all .

And you wonder why those whom have children may develop behavoir issues in school and life .cause .they take away familes lives .and it causes depression and behavoir issues in life.imagine your child being told son cant play pass the ball outside .im not allowed. And that going on 10 days .God help this country .help our children .

Hi everyone. I have a question. My guy was jammed (never on parole) when he got out of prison. Well he was told not to give out candy, stay at home on halloween and no answer the door except for police. Well i had him ask today if i could put carved pumpkins outside. He was told by the officer he did not know there was a rule he couldn't be at home, give out candy on halloween or decorate the house. We are pretty perplexed right now. The officer even asked my guy to show him where in the law it says he has to do that. We are in Ne so any help would be appreciated. We slightly feel like they are trying to "set him up" to break the law. But just how we are feeling.

Vywien - I would not believe this guy that he is unaware of any rules like that. I would not take any chances at all. It is frustrating but in this situation better safe than sorry.

Our state law that applies to all child sex offenders.

Provides that it is Class 4 felony for a child sex offender to participate in a holiday event involving children under 18 years of age, such as distributing candy or other items to children on Halloween, wearing a Santa Claus costume on or preceding Christmas, being employed as a department store Santa Claus, or wearing an Easter Bunny costume on or preceding Easter. Exempts from a violation where (1) the sex offense conviction which brought the person into the child sex offender category was criminal sexual abuse in which the victim was at least 13 years of age but under 17 years of age and the offender was less than 5 years older than the victim; or (2) the child sex offender is a parent or guardian of children under 18 years of age that are present in the home and no non-familial minors are present.

Pretty vague. Can we take our kids trick or treating out on public streets? What about work Christmas parties where kids will be present?

My husband is in PA on probation and has never had to sign anything like that, but those are pretty much the rules he says he's supposed to follow. It's just another way we know our lives have changed. He doesn't live with us either... (can't because his victim is our daughter, even though she's 20 now). What a mess.

Anyone else in PA that has any idea where the laws are with all of this stuff now? I feel like I don't understand any of this stuff.

I had to sign Wednesday (South Carolina). Have to be inside house from 5:00pm - 10:00pm, no decorations. Probation department will be checking door to door each registrant for compliance during that time. My PO has never visited me on Halloween but I do get a phone call from numbers I don't know during that time but there is no one there when I answer. Maybe it's a cell phone location check?

get this one! In FL (at least last time I checked) only if you are on paper do you have Halloween restrictions - after that you are allowed to decorate and give out candy. Unless they have changed it now - that is one of the thing the "she who should not be names" went around harassing people for one Halloween and she was wrong because the people she was harassing were off paper - and that is in FlorDuh! Go figure!

Vywien, I agree with Daisy....go with your gut feeling. They may very well be luring you into breaking the law. I tell ya, I do not trust any law enforcement as far as I could throw them....and my brother is a cop!...and oh yeah, have I heard some stories...
What gets to me is, a lot of people on this board, including us, (long story), did not actually hurt or bring any harm to a child...yet, they must register as a SO! So infuriating! Anyway...suck it up, and stay under the radar. I'm telling you, we are out of AZ. as soon as Probation is over.....
So, now I'm wondering....is the PO going to come and pay us a little visit on Halloween night? Geez, I hope not.

Nothing like feeling like you are still in prison while supposedly "Free"....This is so messed up and to the extreme. Sorry to hear about all that you families have to go through..

I'm in PA, and once off probation, my hubby has no rules regarding Halloween. even on probation, all my hubby had to do was tell the PO where he was going to be and he was cool. We often go to our pastor's house for a get together, or play D&D. my kids are older so Tor Ting is not a thing anymore
