Chop this prison or registration situation up into smaller segments, with the end of each segment being a goal you want to reach. If you try to take it in all at once, you will become very disgusted and demoralized by it all.
First, get through the prison time---if there is any. Then next, is the first month of probation. The next goal is to get rid of the GPS if there is one. Then you begin month by month until the probation is finished. The end of each segment---or step---is a goal and you don't want to worry about the next segment until you finish the one you are on. Don't look too far ahead as you are just borrowing trouble.
Pretty soon, you are finished with probation and you only have the registry to contend with.
I have seen people who try to take this in all at once and it overwhelms them. It is best to take this one day at a time.

We try to live optimistically. But we have our moments. We make a point to encourage and support the one who needs to vent. I definitely let him have his time and let it out. At the end of the day, it makes us stronger. You can find a solution, or go with the flow. Again, not easy! But it's so much more tolerable than choosing to allow the stress to consume you.
We just filled out the paperwork requesting the test to see if he's eligible for removal. In the visit the other day, they were rearranging his stuff to move the receiver so it wouldn't vibrate (we had it on top of a cabinet) and check the connection/ fitting. I'm wondering if the reason for the initial visit was to see if they thought it appropriate to remove it... We thought it was from having to post bail over the traffic ticket.
He meets his new P.O. in a bit. I wish I was there with him!
