In WI when an offender is released to supervision the agent is the one that will pick them up and deliver them. If they are released to freedom like some are, then it could be anytime during the day that they are released. When my husband was released on bond for his appeal I had to go pick him up. They let him call me to let me know that I should come and it took me a little over an hour to get there. All I did was go to the lobby of the prison and say I was there to pick up my hubby and then I sat and waited for them to pass the news on and for the hubby to come out.

As long as your son has your contact information so he can get a hold of you if you aren't already there waiting, then I think you'll be good. He probably won't need all the ID stuff but since you are crossing state lines it is probably a good idea to have that stuff anyway. Bring him a change of clothes that is different than the stuff he has been wearing inside... I am sure he would just appreciate it.. :)

I am so happy for you that he is coming home... yeah it will be awkward at first, but that will pass too. I remember those last few days... like Christmas when I was 5, just COULDN'T WAIT!

Thanks Wisconsin. Yes, he's given me a list of clothes he wants me to bring. Got it packed already in a back pack. Got my airplane ticket and a rental car ready. He also has a list of junk & fast food places he wants to hit as soon as he gets out. I'm so excited!! I remember when he went in and counting down the months and now it's 16 DayS! Yes!

When it gets to hours it will be just excruciating.... I am excited for you too!!!!

Visiting day 1 of 4: this morning, during visitors processing, we all saw one guy being transported out for a medical evaluation and two guys were released to their families. Happy Day!

where i live they usually release inmates around 4 or 5 in the morning from county i don't know about the prison but county it's 4 in the morning sense there is no one hardly around on the streets they can run into

My son thinks it's going to be around 9 am. He's in federal. He's figuring that he'll get up around 7 , get his paperwork and things in order and then they'll let him out. I'm going down 2 days early just in case the airport here in Philly is snowed in. I'm staying in a hotel that's about 15 minutes away.
His release date is the 5th but since that's a Sunday and they can't keep him longer than his release date he gets out on Friday. I just want to get him out of there as quick as I can before any laws change or they something else that keeps him there. It's scarey down there.

I'm so happy and excited for you! I can just imagine you not being able to sleep the night before...just like a kid on Christmas Eve...lol I pray you have a safe and wonderful trip there and back!

Congratulations on your son getting out. You can contact the Prison and let them know you will be the one picking your son up. If they are anything like the State Prisons they should be able to give you the time and where to be when he is getting out.

Must feel like an eternity, I hope the time goes quick for you. You will have some nice driving time to get to know each other again. I am not sure but maybe the guys can pitch in here. How was it for you when you first got out? What can we do to make it as comfortable for our loved ones as possible. I imagine my son will be a bit quite for a while just taking it all in, digressing. If that is the case I will wait til he is ready. I am not uncomfortable just sitting in silence.

Visiting day 2 of 4: another guy was released this morning while we were checking in. His mom and sister were there. The mom told her daughter they were visiting, but then he came out to the lobby, wearing different clothes and carrying a box. The guy's sister was beside herself -- what a nice Christmas present!!!

What a wonderful Christmas present! I only wish I had the same experience.:)

when I was release from Coleman low in 2003, there was fog so They would not let anyone out until it burn off..They would call you to come to receiving and you would get dress there and then be escourted out in handcuff to the front gate. They also will go thru all your stuff before you are release...They did not let any of your peoples back into receiving, your people met you at the gate... I just wanted to get out so I left in their clothes .I am happy he is getting out and will not be living in florDud. I had to report to my PO as soon as I got into town, He was a ass....also after over 33 months of my 36 months probation they try to send me back saying I have had contact with minors (my grandson) The PO forgot that in my paperwork that he sign it did not say that I could not have any contact with minors, I went before the judge and the charges were thrown out by the judge. I had to hired a lawyer but the look on the PO face when it was thrown out was worth it. They really road my ass during the last 2 months, checking up on me every few days
