I went into the court house yesterday to find out the details of my 2000 conviction when I was 16 that resulted in me being on the sex offender registry for what turned out to be life after Michigan restructured. After a little run around I was directed to probate court.
Probate court informed me that my record was expunged on March 14th 2014 (my 30th birthday) and they asked if I was still registering. When I told them that I was they told me that I was no longer obligated to register and they are going to get me the paperwork to give to the sherriff's department to show that I am no longer required to be a registered sex offender.
I feel like I have been given another chance. No more living in Hell everyday. And if I wouldn't have went it and questioned why I wasn't on the registry when i am a tier 3 offender i never would have known and I would have registered for the rest of my life.
