frustation and rage about the unfairness

just saw a mention of this posted on my facebook page and had to check it out.

i guess even at my age i am naive? but this is just too much... i am in tears of rage and frustration.

i wasn't able to find out if he has to register......

and yet my daughter gets sentenced to 151 months in federal prison, 15yrs probation and registry for life, for looking at some damn pictures???

this asshole gets a slap on the wrist for raping a woman, and my son gets 10 years federal, 10 years supervised release for looking at pictures online! Believe me, I feel your anger.

I can't find the link at the moment but a case just ended here in ct where the guy ADMITTED to his charges of 2 counts first degree, one count fourth degree and a number of other felonies with a 4 and 7 year old and only got 8 years and with good behavior will get out in 5 to 6.

kim, they got her for distribution too. she shared the password for what she had to some guy (undercover agent) to show him.

kitty you and i both understand the anger and outright disgust on this one.

My son also got distribution. He was charged by the state so it wasn't as harsh........ 5yr all suspended but 1 with 5 yr probation...25 yr registry. He was told that if he didn't take it, he would be charged by the feds which would have been a mandatory minimum of 5 yrs with none of it suspended.

i will nerver understand why that is not considered threats? blackmail of sorts or coercion

klw9653, Your son was very lucky. My son's charges were federal. He was looking at a minimum 5 years for pleading guilty to 1 count of possession and distribution. He got 10 years in a federal prison, 10 years probation, and I think lifetime registry (although the first 20 years will probably be his lifetime). Now he is facing an additional 15 years minimum in Montana (also federal charges) for basically the same charge.

I have said it before and i will say it again , Cops and Judges are special they do NOT have to register !

The longer I'm involved in this mess called sex offense, the more I think it is really bizarre. If EchoMoon's daughter could get caught up in it, anyone could. Anyone! Just for looking at pictures, or responding to one's own inner urges and turmoil. Even worse is the response of society. The variables determining who gets punished and who gets off seem to be on a continuum between getting dropped in an abandoned well for the rest of your life and sheer whim. There is no fairness to it at all…and we are all potential sex offenders, especially if we use the internet!

Peek.. that's how I've felt for the past 3 years when my son was accused of producing & distributing cp.. when all he did was accidentally download 3 cp he never watched.

Cop = slap on the wrist. Yes it's not right and yes it happens hear as well if he wasn't a cop he and his family would be in the same boat as us.
