I emailed homefacts and a couple of other sites which had my name, and my profile was off the next day. Of course, it was removed from the Oklahoma Department of Corrections Sex Offender site about a week earlier.
I repeated this with about four or five sites and they all removed my name.
I still appear in a Google search, but when you click on the search results nothing is there.

I was not referring to the Oklahoma Department of Corrections Sex Offender site. My name was removed from that site in early June of this year. I was also referring to several of the sites, which are not operated by the arm of the government, but privately owned.
And no, my name does not appear in any search engine as a sex offender. I just checked homefacts, family watchdog, neighborhood watch, and a few others and my name has been removed.
I would not lie about something like this. I think I have a good reputation on this site for honesty.
On the sites I am referring to, I sent them an email with an attachment of the letter I received from the Oklahoma Department of Corrections regarding my removal. To my surprise, they removed my name with no problems.

I mentioned it to give HOPE to others, that yes, if you are removed, you can got off some of these private sites. I continue to work like hell every day to help everybody I can to get off the registry, and I will continue to do so.
And I won't stop until we get this registry mess eradicated.
That was the reason for my post. I think that the support and help I give to others here speaks for itself.

Congratulations on your removal. While I (we?) appreciate the courage of all those who are affected by this and speak up I (we?) truly admire those who have nothing to gain but speak up nevertheless.
I don't know if I was ever on the site you just mentioned, but I just went there, put my zip code in and did a search for offenders within 10 miles and my name did not appear. I live in a small community, and the other offenders were there, but not me.
So, no, I am not on that site either.
Maybe I am just lucky or maybe they are taking all their information from the official state sex offender sites?? I don't know.
I know the few times I searched via Google, the first site that came up in the search was always Homefacts. And when I typed my name in a Google search, my name came up on a few private sites, but I don't remember if it was Offendex.com at the time. But it has been removed now.
Maybe it was because I sent them the official letter I received from the Oklahoma Department of Corrections? I am at a loss to explain why my name was removed without incident.
But as I said, even though it does not affect me anymore, I will still be here to fight until others can be removed also. I have made far too many friends to stop now.
If anyone else is having problems getting their names removed, send me a message and I will tell you how I did it.

In google, put in your full name and add "sexoffenderrecord.com" or "publicrecordrepository.com" and see if sth comes up. At least homefacts, city-data, etc are kept current and appear to attempt to mirror the official state registry (the point of that escapes me but whatever). offendex (sexoffenderrecord) advertises that it includes all historical profiles, and their fine print makes no claim that the person is currently on the state registry. The person I know is on there with a photo that is several years old.
I know of one person who paid them their ransom and was indeed removed. However, there is no guarantee of that and, in any event, goes against everything that is good and decent.
They are slime and are going down. Why that site is still up and running is puzzling.

But, yep, you are right Dixon, when I do a Google search with the search terms of my name plus sexoffenderrecord.com, my name does come up in the search. And I cannot see how to do a search on publicrecordrepository.com, but when I type my name in Google plus publicrecordrepostiory.com, my name does indeed come up.
In both instances, it takes me to a page which was the old Oklahoma Department of Corrections Sex Offender site.
On the other private sites my named does not come up in a Google search or when I do a search on their actual site.
So I guess it just depends on the site. Good information to know. It seems that sexoffenderrecord.com and publicrecordrepository.com are the ones who will not remove your name, but I had no problem with the others.

PS No, there is no way in hell I would give them a dime.
we can all hope that they either totally get rid of the registry or straighten the freaking mess out!! no one should be able to make money from someone's misery. nor should they be allowed to endanger so many people.
