Definition: Sex Offender - From the comments it's apparent that everyone thinks they want to touch little children.

while i'm glad these people have someplace they can go to be safe and accepted? how pitiful is it that they have been reduced to a "village" of outcasts or of what would consider a village of the damned.

It's sad that they had to resort to this what's even sadder is the comments that people made about this.

I didn't let myself read the comments based on what y'all said, but I've been wondering why there aren't more places like this... maybe not faith based but you'd think that land developers would explore this. I get the reason they might not want to go over board with publicity but low cost housing is needed everywhere! and you'd have super long term residents if you marked towards family's... I know I've wished I had the cash to do this myself.

@harpssong, I thought about the same thing. I thought the big business would have thought about this line of thought already. A SO mall, a SO Disneyland type, and apartment for SO only. Though it might lead all their customers into potential danger since there are people out there who kill SO for fun.

No offense, but anyone who thinks that SO villages are a good idea may want to look back about 70 years....Warsaw Ghetto.....Lodz Ghetto......There were several other smaller ones, most in Poland...Why do you think the Nazis put Jews in the Ghettos?????

America has already done it. first to the natives, ever been on a reservation, then to blacks and mexicans and recently to japanese. difference is that it's not the government herding anyone away (though even as I type I see it kind of is, ironic).

Personally I am all for it. My motto would be drop me on a deserted Island, drop in the supplies I need for a few years and then stay away....The only think I find wrong is that it is only on 20 acres. In able to sustain itself you need some form of power generation, orchard and gardening space.

They tried this somewhere else - Indiana maybe? But the county passed a law saying no more than two sex offenders could live together / within a certain distance. So it was closed down.

I'd love a safe haven. I truly would. My dream is moving out of country where the laws of the US don't matter. (Although those countries are getting fewer and fewer) But this isn't the answer. They still need to leave the town for work, food and school. Their power, water and electricity are still dependent on the outside world.

Now if you buy and island in international waters and can fund all the amenities I'd be there in a heartbeat. But it's too scary inside a state and country who hate you.

Even worse is now you've created another privatized business monster that needs feeding which means they need more convictions. This is NOT the way to go forwards it just makes it worse. Let's not create another monster to feed but educate instead.

A side note, the show Criminal Minds actually gets it right. Season one the main characters actually try to dispel SO myths in one episode. I thought it was pretty bold to do for a popular show back in 2005.
