I was thinking yesterday. Where would my son be if I wasn't able to get out of Floriduh and move to PA.
I don't know. Where would he be living. I know of a real crappy hotel in Daytona Beach where there are a couple other SOs. It was across the street from my shop. I had to move around a bit after he was put in prison. I moved my shop every year trying to relocate so I could be near him and the last year I went back to Daytona because I knew the area. I lived in my shop for almost 2 years. The cops there were so bad they would follow me around the block when I took my dogs for a walk. I would stop and they would stop.. like I was doing something bad. I had to move to the hotel across the street. For $200/month I lived in a 1 room where my neighbor was a family with 3 kids living in 1 room and prostitutes and druggies.
That was an option for my son.
Or , if I was lucky I could find him something out in the country but then he would be so isolated that he would literally rot away in the home, no job, no life.
The cops in Floriduh are so bad . They used to harass my son and his friends as he was growing up in a middle class neighborhood. The kids would go out at 5 a.m. skateboarding around the neighborhood and the cops would give them a hard time. Or they'd be sitting in their car waiting for a friend and a cop would pull up behind and go to their car looking for anything to scare them. That's why my son 'confessed' when they brought him to their squad car... he lied to make them go away, just like he did his whole life.
Even tho my son has to deal with supervised release, and 15 years on the registry (at least it's not lifetime) I'm glad I took that chance and we're here in Philly.
I can't image the nightmare of Floriduh if we were stuck there. My heart goes out to others who are.

From what I learned, even in Floriduh , you need a warrant if you're police. And you still can't go thru everyone's stuff. Maybe I'm wrong but that's what I got out of it.
And yes, even my undy drawer was rifled through.
Yeah, my son doesn't have that in his release papers, altho he was sentenced in FLoriduh. But I'm not surprised .
