I'm not sure anyone who has done a long period of time in prison ever fully gets over it, but it is not a real problem.
After my release, and even 10 years later, I kept having recurring dreams about twice a week. These dreams had the same theme---I was always trapped somewhere (I think it was prison or jail) and I couldn't get out. I would try to figure out a way I could go home. Someone said I am suffering from a form of ptsd, and maybe I am.
The dreams were not bad enough to seek help and once I was up and going they were not a problem.
Funny thing is that I had a very easy time in prison---no altercations, good job, family support.
But anyway, if you have these dreams, do not be alarmed. They happen.
Glad you found a job. Enjoy your freedom. Learn to live again. Just being alive and free is a truly wonderful experience.
We are always here for you.
