You look like a very nice young lady and you and your husband have your whole life ahead of you. I have been in this game for a long time and the best advice I can give you is to do whatever it takes to get the hell out of Florida as soon as you can.

Florida and Arizona are racing neck-to-neck to see who can pass the most absurd and restrictive laws in the nation regarding sex offenders and the registry. The problem is that they do not seem to be slowing down and any law they pass in the future they will try to make it retroactive---which means it would apply to your husband.

What it boils down to is that at the beginning of every legislative session you will have to worry and sweat blood wondering what they will pass that year. It is just a living hell down there.

You, your husband, and your expectant child can move to a more reasonable state and start all over. You are young and it is not too late to do that. If you hang around Florida, you are just allowing them to make your life miserable on a daily basis. Get out of that hell hole.

Go to another state and just start all over. Stay away from the Bible Belt states and do your research on the states that are most favorable to registrants.

Nothing will ever work out for your family in Florida.

I agree with Rew with one exception that South Carolina seems to be a very reasonable state right smack in the middle of the bible belt. Every state around us is really terrible yet SC seems to be intelligent. There are only living distance restrictions for the top 5 worst offenses although registration is for life, my PO tells me that is going to change as the numbers of registered citizens rise the toll it takes on the sheriff's duties increase. The majority of current registered citizens are for non-violent offenses. They allow living addresses to be street blocks. I find living closer to the coast more tolerable than inland. There is a $150 per year registration charge and the check on your location 4 times a year.

I must agree with the responses I have read so far.I lived down in FL and now living in MA I didn't think there was any hope down there. I am still in a interstate compact from FL my PO told me if I wasn't still connected with FL he would have me off today telling me every time he makes out a progress report he keeps informing them he sees no reason for me still serving probation. What ever it takes PLEASE leave that state you would be making a major mistake if you stay in that state.

Thanks for the thoughts you guys. Virginia was fine and we were actually doing great, my husband was able to work and registration wasnt bad at all. We only moved down here because my parents did and thought it would be best to be close, and my mom keeps saying it will get better because her and my dad are struggling too, but we don't have the money to go back now. We have transfered all our stuff herr and everything. We also don't have anyone in Virginia now who can help us. I feel more optimistic today than when I wrote this, but I really hope stuff turns around.

Freetobreath, are you able to go to beach in SC?

Yes I can go to the beach. Being in a tourist area they play down registered citizens so as to not scare off the paying tourists. They even have registered citizens living in hotels right on the beach. I heard that instate some stores have free newspapers of registered citizens pictures and info to give out but not around Myrtle Beach anyways.

I am still on probation and the only place I'm told I can't go is the food court at the mall. (I guess that's a popular place to grab kids?)
