I know it affects both state and federal prisons. This is a breaking story and I am still trying to find the answers to your questions.
Will get back with you soon.

Some of the private phone providers are crying and at least one has threatened to file a lawsuit. Greedy, greedy, greedy.
It is about time that struggling families were given a break so they could keep in contact with their loved one in prison.

BTW, the hero of the day is Commissioner Mignon Clyburn, who was instrumental in getting this passed.

I noticed that several sheriffs---even our local sheriff here----are having a fit because of this recent FCC ruling. Too bad. If society cannot allocate money to adequately house both jail and prison inmates, they need to prioritize their cases and not send so many people to prison. But don't expect the families---who have done nothing wrong but love their son, daughter, boyfriend, or husband----to subsidize this out of control incarceration problem we have in America.

I looked it up on the FCC website; I knew something was in the works. I can't express how badly this needed to be passed. I'm in Washington Global Tel* Link is the DOC provider, and they are always cutting us off in the middle of a call. They use a recording of 3way call's are not allowed!! and we never have had 3way call. My husband files a report every time and we never get the money back. Thousands of people have lost money; it's good to know that the public will be charged by the minute.
