All Facebook needs is a complaint. They won't spare any time investigating. I doubt they do anything different if someone reported bullying.

I've been told FB runs a program that finds SO's and deactivates their accounts.

Also, the only way FB will take down a profile being reported as an SO is if the reporter includes the link to you with your picture via the STATE registry, not homefacts (this is what I have been told. I also tested it with my husbands old account that he no longer uses.)

You can make a new account. Just use a different email address, use a common name and don't use your picture as your profile. If you are using it for family/friends they know who you are and it doesn't really matter. You don't even have to set the city to where you are currently living.

I personally find it ridiculous that they are persecuting RSO's like this. Like you said, your conviction is 28 years old with nothing since. I can understand not having those still on paper to an extent, but c'mon!

@FreeToBreathe: FB really doesn't do much about bullying reports either. It takes a lot for them to suspend accounts over bullying.

Make a new one. Only close it off private and DON"T put up a profile pic. In fact, put up a picture of something that is so not you.
For instance, I hate clowns. Everyone knows I hate clowns, but I have a second profile with an evil clown for the picture (Pennywise)

I have a fake account and I drew a picture in Paint of a person on my computer. I had fun designing the person. It looks kind of scary, but it works. Its pretty private, but it doesn't have friends so it doesn't really matter.

My husbands account is from before he was arrested. He doesn't have his picture on his. Its some weird random thing he put on. I locked him out of it when I was able to gain access to it.

I've been wondering about this very thing. My son has his professional nature photography on his FB account. He is just recently in jail for a so charge. He asked me to download his FB photos to save them in case his acct was taken down....I didn't think that would happen but it sounds like it can? Or only if someone reports you? This leads me to another question I've been wondering about...if someone has a SO charge that involves use of the computer, are they allowed to use computers ever again or be online? I don't see how that's possible these days but....

On my yearly SORNA application, it asks for all of your email addresses. When you sign up for Facebook, I think you need an email address. If someone complains about you to FB, they check with the registry to see if that email is of a registered citizen
So in my case I would have to lie on my SORNA application, which is not worth it to find out what my friends ate for lunch.
I had a FB account for 5 years, the US MArshalls took it upon themselves to check their database against FB and get accounts deleted..

weather or not a so can be on a computer is up to the po , I thank some states have other laws on it but not shure what as far as I know they can only stop a so that is on probation and that's it, mine had nothing to do with a computer and the po tryed to make it so I would not be allowed on it but changed his mind when I told him I need the Internet to work on computers and other things , he ant had no problem with it tho just had to give himself all my usernames and passwords witch I thank the giving him passwords should be out lawed I may be on probation but I'm not in jail they have no right to my passwords I beleave that's me tho, non the less I complied with it

My husband's charge involves a computer. He is allowed online, but here in Texas it is a county by county thing. In some counties if you are an RSO on paper you are not allowed online, some don't even allow you to have internet in your home. Some counties it is if you have a computer charge.

Our county allows it. My husband has monitoring/filtering software he has to pay for to put on any device that connects to the internet. All of my devices have to have passwords so he can not access them.

My husband couldn't remember the password to the email account that was linked to his facebook. He asked his PO if he had to report the email account and they said no because he had no access to it. I some how hacked into it. He reports the Facebook account, but they know I am the one that uses it.

Our friend that is an RSO had his Facebook account deactivated because he is an RSO. He didn't use it, like me his wife had control of it. He lost all of the pictures he had on it (he had it before he was arrested.) and they didn't think to download them.

You do need an email for facebook.

go in to the settings and just click the download data button it will download every thing that you or him or her posted pics and all

Thanks Rickybennett, I've heard so many different answers. My son is very good at computer stuff, was thinking he might be able to get asso degree in IT or something similar, he could be self employed (if that's allowed) or might stand a chance at a job in that field. I don't understand how a 28 year old can go through times now with no computer, and a flip phone....I'm sure he would give up his password to be able to work, even tho not really right.

My husband has two associates degrees in IT and was almost done with his bachelors. He was going into database administration. He has so many certifications I could write a novel. Many Cisco one's which are very desirable. He ran his own computer business where he built and serviced computers, did home and business networking.

Unfortunately, since his offense involved a computer he can't use any of it, and chances of an IT company hiring him are slim to none.

He is hoping sometime in the future to start building computers again. He built one for himself and I loved the passion he got over it. His business did very well when he had it. We have been planning on him starting a computer business somewhere down the line because it is so hard for him to get jobs, and the ones he gets are not anything he is interested in. I hate seeing him so lifeless about working.

KnowNot, thank you. That's my concern about computers. There must be something at a technical school they can get AD in...refrigeration, auto mechanics, something besides working in a kitchen. My son is too young to not find something he can do besides working in a kitchen...I guess tho if a kitchen job came up, maybe he could work his way up from there. I'm hoping if he goes to prerelease they will have the names of places in town that he can get a job, or maybe our church will have something....which brings me to another question...I saw on here somewhere that someone had to have permission to go to church, is that always the case? I'm so afraid I'm going to lose him to suicide...
