During the 79th Regular Session of the Texas Legislature, House Bill 867 was passed and it added Subchapter I, Articles 62.401 to 62.408 to the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure. This created the potential for the deregistration of some sex offenders, or removal of some sex offenders from the public registry.

Does anyone know anything about this deregistration process in Texas? Have any registrants attempted this deregistration procedure? Has anyone been successful---or been turned down?

If someone has tried, did they use an attorney to do so?

Any information regarding the deregistration process in Texas would be greatly appreciated.

I have not read the whole thing but it says Promotion and Distribution of Child Pornography is eleigible but I do not see Possession of CP?

rewdiazepam, maybe "buildingupslow" can give you some info on deregistration in Texass , plus like dbradord said Mary Sue from Texas Voices can help also ! I m in Texass also and dream of deregistration , but have heard ( $15,000.00 and lawyer + Judge agreement to be able to apply + afew hearings with a panel = ? ) .....

I would be so happy for all those in Texas but I wish Fla would get on board - I found interesting that they say it would not include certain crimes because they would lose the money from the government.
