i'm not an offender, my daughter is in prison for CP.

i have no idea how that is going to work out when she gets out tho? because as it stands now she will be coming to live with me where ever that may be.

and i have never used my real name on FB or anywhere on social media.

a few years old as the last update noted was august 2013. but i have spent the last 2hrs reading some of it. i literally wanted to cry over some of it in the different sections.

i can be as hard nosed as needed or a b*tch sometimes but deep down i'm a softie and sometimes the misery, suffering and heartache of this mess gets to me and tears me up...

Echo - they cannot take you off FB unless YOU are the offender - and for some reason there are RSOs on FB that have never been taken off - not sure why becasue even though FL has ruled (yes believe or not) that RSOs CAN have a FB account - FB has the rule that they cannot be on there and they use some type of search program to find them

I do not believe FB is doing a very good job at finding the RSOs on their website. I just saw this on google:

Well, the article is a year old - I do know when my son's account was disabled several members of his group were disabled the same day - so they are doing something.

advocate, i'm not so worried about being denied on facebook as i am of not being allowed to have internet capabilities for the laptop and phone, at home when she gets out. this is seeing that she got nailed for internet CP. the all mighty "cyber crime"....

i wonder, considering the time, effort and expense that going thru ALL the facebook pages to find registered citizens? if in fact they are combing the members one by one, by name, or only if someone reports them?

No I understand they have some kind of scanning program that some jerk is making a lot of money from - other social pages use it as well I have heard. I know every state is different but in FL they do not restrict in house computer use as long as the computers that belong to others are password protected

I personally know 3 RSOs that have FB pages. They've had them and have been active on them for years. The only way I know of them being taken down is you have to report the page to FB and send proof that they have committed a sex offense.

I know there are people who sit on their computer all day and run names against the registries. It makes me sad that they have nothing better to do with their lives.

My fiance's conviction is CP, and he has a computer. He has to have filtering/monitoring software on any computer or smart phone he has access to. My computer and phone have passwords on them so he can't get on them, so I don't have to have the software on them. It really varies on your location on whether or not they can have access to these things. I know in the county next to us he wouldn't be allowed to even own a smart phone or computer and me having them would be a very touchy subject.

I know. It's absolutely ludicrous how things vary. That county is about 10 miles from us. I don't understand why there isn't a more uniform code for anything. I know the laws pretty well for the county we are in now. I know all RSO's have to have the software on their computers/smart phones, not matter their offense. They are not allowed to have a Netflix account. You can have a gaming console with permission and the level of controls on the console vary from what your offense is. The county on the other side they are allowed to have Netflix and gaming consoles. I just don't get it. I guess depending on what your offense is you can pick the county to best suit your needs. We were thinking of moving to the one county but found out about the computer thing so we said no.

Actually knownot - not to argue but FB has done wide sweeps of looking for sex offenders with some type of program - I do not know how a few slip through the cracks but they do. I know when my son was removed there was a news story at the time about it but I was unable to find it just now - it would have been 2010-11?
