The dumbing down of America has been happening for decades... when you compare what I learned in HS to what my parents learned in school, my education is lacking. When you compare my education to what is going on today, it makes me speechless.

Colorado will put a whole slew of children on the registry, mostly because it will garner votes for the DAs and Judges. Tough on crime. Tough on child porn because it victimizes the child over and over. (in the case with teen sexting, I can see how that will do the same thing, humiliate them over and over,) But they chose to send out that pic, they were not coerced into performing for the camera, they were holding it and posing. So that isn't child porn, they call that stupidity where I am from or ignorance. But certainly not a crime. What we should be doing is teaching children what the internet is, how it works and what happens to any and all data that is put out there or just plain connected to it by a cable. Same can be said for sex as well, educating the child about it from an early age, will no only help them recognize when things aren't right and help them formulate good choices later on. Instead what I see most of is coddling, sheltering, censoring and plain lying being done to children. How ever will they learn the harsh realities of life if they are never allowed to experience them with an educated brain and supportive parents behind them during the younger years to be there when they falter, as they all do. When it comes to things like this, I think we could all take a lesson from the Amish about some of their child rearing skills.
