Sometimes I feel like I have had enough of this country and think I would like to become European, but they have their problems, too. (Sigh) Good thing I'm old. This world is getting too crazy for me.
It's illegal..
So its ok if they are in possession of a few kilos of cocaine.. they should have a year to dispose of it before prosecution.. what the?!
Illegal is illegal no matter of the context..
Remember when Iraq had weapons of mass destruction and we had no other choice but to invade? And about those weapons..whatever became of them? Oh that's right, they didn't exist . Think about all the young men who put their lives on the line to fight some rich mans war.
I know my posts tend to ramble from subject to subject, but my brothers original indictment was in 2008. So for six years I have gone from seeing the corrupt registry for the evil machine that it really is and from there it will take you into an endless rabbit hole. As bad as the registry is, it could be a lot worse.Just when I think I have seen or heard it all, the goverment ( or as some believe, the shadow goverment) one ups themselves with something even more outrageous then before. With the NDAA anyone of us could be secretly detained , indefinitely and with out any due process. Since it's a secret we have no way of knowing how many people are currently in this predicament . I wonder if someone were to be secretly detained and their family filed a missing persons report how that would be handled. Since it's a secret they certainly would not tell them their loved one was in a secret jail somewhere.. I know this sounds conspiracy theory crazy, but it is true and in no way a secret. The president didn't pass this law in private, it was out in the open for everyone to see.
The info released through freedom of information acts alone is enough to cause anyone to question everything they believed to be true. That's probably just the tip of the ice burg. We literally use drones to go into other countries and murder people every day. No one cares, since it's not over here. It's just one big cluster fuck.
I recently read a couple of interesting articles from the Huffington Post called.... The 14 Most F#$%ed Up Things About America's Obsession With Putting People Behind Bars and America Has More Prisoners Than High School Teachers that relates to this post that I will summarize.
America has more prisoners than high school teachers. If sitting in a prison cell was a job, it would be one of the most common jobs in the United States.
By contrast, there were about 1,530,000 engineers in America last year, 815,000 construction workers, and 1 million high school teachers, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
There are nearly five times as many people in prison now as there were in 1980. Yep America is the super power of incarceration and starting to become so wacky in its draconian laws that it could give the Talaban a run for stupid.
Most states in America spend more money incarcerating prisoners than educating students. It's become Americas obsession and priority to lock up its citizens and children.
The total prison population has grown by 500 percent over the last 30 years.
The grand result? More than one out of 100 American adults is behind bars (about 2.3 million people, by the end of 2012) -- while a stunning one out of 35 American adults are imprisoned or under probation or parole supervision.
I recently got into a verbal argument trying to debate a neighbor about how unjust America is and that if it really cared about children it would make education a priority instead of locking up children or adding children to the booming list of people on the registered citizen registry. Almost 1/3rd of the registry now consists of minors and or very young men and women.
My neighbor reminded me of just how dangerous a person I was and I reminded him that misdemeanors committed nearly decades ago just shouldn't mark and follow a man forever and control my destiny in a so called civilized society. He also reminded me how America got so messed up in the first place.
I remember not long ago when we had daily updates on how dangerous the day was suppose to be flashed all over the dummy tube by a color coded description and on certain days I should be extra diligent and pay attention searching for odd out of place people that could attempt to harm America and contact authorities so they could investigate.
Yep the rest of the civilized world shouldn't try to copy Americas play book they should burn it because it literally could be a dummies book titled... How to wreck a county.
@freebird I was thinking Australia was supposed to be the land of the locked up!
I could go on and on but I won't - but I will finish by saying this - what is the result of the above mentioned changes? Well, eventually I believe the result will be revolution and the end of the USA as we know it. Why? Because we have created a country where the majority of citizens are controlled (whether they know it or not) by fear created by the government, the media, and law enforcement (from the top on down). Fear of terrorism, fear of SOs, fear of the economy, etc. etc. How many of you actually KNOW your neighbors? We have a country where a whole generation of adults are emerging that are complacent - they walk around with their heads bent over an electronic device and they feel safe in that world. They think their freedoms (as they perceive them) are protected by a piece of paper that has no power if not upheld by those sworn to uphold it. They are complacent becasue they believe that they have no power to change things if they tried. We also are creating a whole generation of adults that have no rights to pursue life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness becasue they are restricted by illegal laws that prevent them from living and going where they desire. They are also a group that is no longer eligible for military service - have they ever considered what will happen if the institute conscription - I already told my son if he is ever drafted he needs to say to them I want it in writing that my status as an SO is wiped clean or you can stick it up your butt! We are creating a whole generation of young people that have nothing to lose. And as we have discussed on this forum many times - this is a list that is growing by leaps and bounds and will continue to do so until something changes.
sjoz - I hear what you are saying - yes Illegal is illegal no matter of the context - but a country can choose to treat what is illegal in any manner they choose - if they choose to treat CP in this manner that is their right to do so. For many years in the USA CP was a misdemeanor and those that possessed it were given the chance to regain their life and learn from their mistakes. There are a few countries where CP is not illegal at all. I think that it is subjective - CP that is small children are adults that are being abused is one thing - it is the abuse that is horrifically wrong - but CP that is not stemming from abuse is another. That being said what makes sexual abuse worse than physical or emotional abuse? You tell me ...
