I would like someone to write down or tell me all that you know about as far as what a sex offender has to do when they are released. everything. from what they can have in their home that is okay to have. From game systems to books whatever anyone knows of. Also what will happen from release date? will they not be allowed to attend family functions where kids will be? even if related to them? thanks I really want to prepare him for this. and My son was a kinfe collector, I assume he will have to get rid of them too, right?

Is he being released to a probationary period or parole, i.e. paper time? Will he be on supervision with a PO?

Or is he being released and his sentence has been completed; in other wors he has no paper time to serve. In that case, he will only have to worry about the registry.

It is gonna be a long time from now but i wanna let him know how it is out here. and he has 15 years supervised release. whatever that is.

Yes every state will be drastically different. If you don't mind us asking, what state will he be residing in when he is done?

It can also depend on exactly what he was convicted of and on the particular PO he winds up with. If it's going to be a long time before he gets out, the rules of supervised release could also change by that time.

I don't know about NC in particular but usually if his crime involved a computer, either solicitation of a minor or CP then for sure a computer is out of the question. But most other things are allowed, however like someone said these things change all the time.

If his release is 5+ years in the future, don't worry about this until his release date approaches. Too much may change by that time. That being said, supervised release includes a lot of restrictions, and family events with minors will probably be prohibited.
