Too bad. I could use some sun right now.
I'll tell you the biggest struggle is all our family here in the IL area and not wanting to go far.
That's why WI is such a draw- it's close.
But I hear Utah is beautiful and the weather nicer than IL or WI.
All I know is we need to decide by March when we put our house up for sale.
I appreciate everyone's experiences and opinions!
I've just hired a lawyer. I'm going to see if they can do anything about my sons case.. after the fact. When we went to see the lawyer last week he was shocked that the Feds brought charges against my son for 1 cp.
But it was Floriduh.. It's a whole other country down there. I'm glad we're here in PA.. and the battle continues.
If PA is only making him stay on for 15 years (past his conviction date) that's good.
I actually thought if he was given life registry in FL that he'd get life on the list in PA.
Even if it remains 15 years anything is better than FL.
Do you know SO's can't vacation in FL because at hour 72 they are supposed to register? And then you're stuck on that registry....
In MD CP possession is also 15 yrs but distribution is 25 yrs. We don't have any residency restrictions here either and there's no restrictions on going to parks. As far as I know, you can get permission to visit schools.
It's not just FL (where I live). My son was convicted in GA---received 15yrs Federal on 1 count of CP.....
Totally bogus!!!......He still has about 9yrs to go.....
I am so very happy for you & your son for escaping the tentacles of the South......
Now...if good ole Sheriff Joe would just have a massive heart attack!!!!
Those states are also states I can visit on vacation and not risk jail time for failure to register!
