There was a kid (19) in county the same time my husband was and he was in because someone turned him in because his girlfriend who was under 18. From what i know about it they had been together for a year or so before this happened. No he is in prison with a life sentence with possible parole after 10 years and will be on the registry for life if he gets out.
So what is now you have to wait to be 18 to do anything? Even then they will come up with new lows or something. People need to wake up and realize what these laws are doing to everyone.

tsmom reminded me of something - my brother can be a real jerk and he likes to act arrogant and the "boss" about things - he lives out of state from us and when he came to visit last time he was asking me about my son - I was telling him a few things about what is is like to live with the label and he was trying to tell me that I was incorrect! lol But .... as we were talking I was telling him some of the absurdities of the laws and I reminded him that when he returned from Vietnam at the age of 20 (just turned 20) he started dating (with both families blessing) the daughter of my fathers good friend (both were in the same squadron in the Air Force at the time) - he got her pregnant, they got married, and stayed married for oh I would say 15 years and had another child but eventually got divorced. I reminded him that in today's World he would be a RSO - he said no becasue they got married and I just laughed! I explained to him that thet would not have mattered - that there are plenty of RSOs out there that are married to their "victims" - then I told him that in the state of Florida there is no statute of limitations on that now and that at any time if someone decided to report it they could! lol you should have seen his face! I love my bro but sometimes he needs to be notched down a little!
And I hope his parents keep up the fight and link it to the failures of the registery more broadly than just their sons case.
Being afraid to go in public. Watching your back all the time. Not knowing who you can talk to... That's reality for us.
