Yes there should be.... In fact there is, but remember law enforcement doesn't usually call all sorts of folks, so someone else has to report the mother to social services or file a complaint of neglect to the cops for her to be looked at..

People here in America should really have more sex education in school. I am from Europe, and I was 16 when I had my first real boyfriend. He was 21 and both mine and his family had absolutely no problem with our relationship. Girls usually mature faster, so the chances of having an older boyfriend are pretty good. If parents and teachers would focus more on education, maybe it would not be such a big deal and girls learn about protection, etc. The SO label is so ridiculous, and I am sure other countries can't help but laugh about such silliness. I hope he will be able to avoid charges.

heartbroken what is the age of limitation in your state if you mind me asking because if she was the legal age of consent there there should be no charge what so ever and i will say yes more parents should be punished for letting there kids do this but if you do that they will also end up on the registry so either way you look at it your damned either way

It has for quite a long time here in WI, been illegal for people under the age of 18 to engage in any sexual activity. In LA I don't remember what the age of consent is but I am pretty sure it is 18 as well.

The fact that the mother allowed the boy to live with them could be seen as abuse or neglect. But the law will see it how they like and will manipulate things so they go the way they want to. I am sorry to hear that this is happening to your cousin.

Yes that is statistically correct. If you think about the degrees of separation that exists, we are all about 6 people or less removed from knowing everyone else in the world. That number is getting smaller as well.

With the number of people getting put on the list, it is only logical that eventually everyone will know someone on the registry, so much so, that the list will be meaningless. That is if the government/powers at be, do not decide to round all registrants and their families up and put them in 'camps' that already exist here in the US that were built by FEMA under the guise of safety.

You are exactly correct with the puritanical manner in which we treat sex in this country. If it wasn't so sad, it would be laughable.

We don't have a problem using drone aircraft to blow the legs off an innocent child or a group of civilians, but it is a national outrage when Janet Jackson has a five second nipple slip at the Super Bown halftime show.

Here is one for ya - In Florida the age of consent is 16 (supposedly) but having porn of a girl under 18 is a crime - go figure. So you can have sex with her just don't look at a picture of her naked!

I stand corrected - the age of consent is only 16 in Florida if the accused is 23 - but the same principal applies. If the 23 year old has sex with the 16 yr old (of course consensual) he is ok - but if that same 23 yr old has a naked picture of that girlfriend on his phone he is a sex offender for CP - am I thee only one that thinks that is pure madness?

It is pure madness. The same 16 yr old will be arrested for taking that pic of herself and sharing it with the 20 yr old....there was no victim (that is until they get arrested for CP possession and distribution).

Wisconsin, I spoke with my cousin last night about our cousin and she said that indeed the mother of the girl asked my cousin to live there. The girl is 15 years old and of course my cousin is 18. She thought he got out of jail but they do not know where he is. I gave her your advice. She was very happy to hear it. I told her to come on this site because I have learned so much. This site has helped me on my low days too. Thanks for having such a wonderful place to come and vent and help others.
