another arrested in my area

I live in Pa outside of philly , my county is consider a wealthy county( only a small percent have the wealth) There was a 31 yr old man arrested for CP not only pictures but video's of children being tortured and raped. I did research ( because this mother is a vocal voice for the tea party) and this man has been arrested several times over the last 10 first for drugs. no jail time just probation. over the following years he was arrested for DUI no jail time. Several violent assaults most charges dropped no jail time probation, He was NEVER put any registry to protect the public. Now the best part his mother is on the local conservative republican committee that pushed Gov. Corbet to pass more restriction on sex offenders to protect the children, she also is a CFO of a local corp. and she served on the local school board and she resigned because her family needs her now. I feel for her as a mother , because I'm going thru a lot pain I wouldn't wish on anyone.
But on the other hand she helped push thru laws that not only effect my LO now but the family as a whole for a very long time. If anyone should have been put on a registry to protect the public it was this guy. There has been little press coverage after the initial article. What angers me the most she passed judgement on our LO because they are so called sex offenders, but because they have money he never had to face jail time. It will be interesting to see how many of her tea party friends support her and her son.

I bet she's going to Regret her pushing those laws, and believe that majority of those she knows will vanish, if she shows any signs of trying to help her son. She soon will know what Families go through.
On the bright side, she may change her outlook and push to have these laws revoked.

Amen. I spent this weekend grieving over the "loss" of my one of my LO's close friends who stated "he got what he deserved". The desertion of "friends" is so hard.

I am actually thinking of getting into Criminal Justice field as I have been seeing so many things where I live that do not make sense. For one there is a doctor that the grand jury brought 22 secret indictments on him for rape and gross sexual imposition. This happened around the same time my husband got arrested. The doctors attorneys got everything dropped and was sentenced on a kidnapping charge and will spend 10 to life in prison. Most likely he will die in prison as he is in his 70's. The doctor even admitted to the rape and gross sexual imposition to the police and he only got a kidnapping charge. I am sorry that is totally wrong as he was a doctor - someone we are suppose to trust and he broke all of that. It really bothers me that the same prosecuting attorney handled my husbands case and wouldn't budge on the plea deal. Plus my husband had a public defender. I guess it shows money does talk in the justice system. I want to get into checking things in my area as to different sex cases and how they are handle, the out come and compare them and see what is really there. Plus hopefully with doing this I can push for some changes in the system and for the SO's once they are released. I believe the registry is good for certain people but not all. I also believe that more than just the SO's need to be on a registry as murders, drug dealers, burglary charged should also be on a registry as they seem to reoffend more than SO's do.

I'm sorry TSMom, but the (public) registry is not good for anyone. The registry affects the family members that reside in the same home. It makes it harder for a person to be reintegrated into society after they served their time.
I don't care about a registry for police only, as they can use it to keep track of those who need to be closely monitored, but the public can't handle knowing this, they don't know how is dangerous, who messed up and who was falsely accused.

I agree with thoughofasweak. I hate what the registry says about us as a society. that there is never forgiveness no matter how hard someone tries to turn their life around. I am curious if he is able to beat the rap though, it does happen to those who suffer from affluenca.

I've got to add my two cents to the voices of ThoughtAsWeak and JackieCook. I believe that our loved ones have already gone through so much anguish, humiliation, and punishment at the hands of the judicial system. When they've completed their incarceration, they should be finished with it - that's the point of the incarceration in the first place, isn't it - but the registry attaches additional punishment to the time already served. It really doesn't help anyone. From what I've learned through this forum, it's not the registered citizens who are dangerous to the community, but they're all too often the scapegoats whenever something wrong happens.

I believe once some one has served their sentence that is it, debt paid now time to move on. Though I must admit, it would be fitting to have a registry for people who thought a public registry was a good idea. I would call it the antii-American freedom hater registry. They would be subject to deportation immediately , illegal immigrants would be more welcome to fill their place.

Also I believe this country is well within a decade of a revolution. A day will come when freedom is restored to this country. We will see, with clarity, how easy it was for our so called leaders to of taken our freedoms from us. We were so scared we practically begged for new laws every time the media exploited a news worthy story.

Longer jail term for convictions for CP , according to age and if there is contact. Go to the Government web page and everything in on there. But was upsets me , even when our lo ones come home they still are sentence to a lifetime on the registry. This guy has never served a day in jail Some of the assaults were with weapons.

The key is to get vocal about these cases because it happens a lot - I wish I had the time and money to follow these politicians around and ask questions from the audience when they talk about harsher penalties - like what about when your son did yadda yadda - the politician might not answer but it would get people thinking about it.

I'm going to say it karma is a bitch when people pass these so called laws they turn around and biting them one way or the other now this man might have to face the same laws his mother just put in place but will have to see

worriedmominpa, Okay I knew about that,I didn't know if there was something I missed. My hubby is off probation but he now has to register for life due to the adoption of AWA. Before it was 10 years

I would like to pose this question..........
The Governor cannot pass legislation on his own, so, How many Dem/Libs in the state Senate and House voted against the restrictions??..My guess? Not one...
The AWA was passed in the US House and Senate UNANIMOUSLY , as in 'Bipartisan'....
The left is intolerant of intolerance..Think about it, they are intolerant of ANYONE who doesn't believe exactly what they believe..Isn't that intolerance?..
For those who are new. I have been here for a few years and YES, I am a Conservative, not a Republican, and an RSO..Whatever you call them, Liberals, Progressives, whatever, show me ONE instance where one stood up for us..You can't, that would be political suicide...
