For those not aware of World War II history, the German Air Force in World War II, in 1940, began bombing London and the surrounding area in England at night. Hitler had already conquered most of Europe and France had fallen. He hoped by bombing the mainland of England he could coerce the British people to surrender or at least have a negotiated settlement, which was favorable to Germany.
Night after night, the citizens of Britain lived in constant terror; they knew as soon as darkness fell, the German dive bombers and fighter planes would be circling their city dropping bomb after bomb, resulting in possible death and destruction for their families.
There have been books written and movies produced which give us a grim picture of the constant terror the people endured because of the bombings.
The story of the citizens of Britain who withstood the nightly terror the German fighter planes brought remind me of sex offenders and their families.
Day after day, we live in fear what the next law or next high profile crime involving a sex offender will bring and how it will affect our families in a detrimental manner. We are constantly waiting for the proverbial “next shoe to drop.”
We live with this on a 24/7 basis, and it literally wears us out as human beings.
This case in Alaska is a prime example. You can bet the media will use this case for ratings and the lawmakers will be calling for more restrictive laws for sex offenders.
Fear and terror---two of the most negative emotions known to mankind.

I believe the people of this support group are, for the most part, very strong individuals in a very difficult battle---that we can face the future with COURAGE instead of fear.
We are winning this battle. Sometimes it might not seem like it, but the public perception of the registry has greatly changed since I was released from prison in 2000. In 2000, everybody thought the registry was a much needed tool and the public generally applauded the registry. Now, the public is not so sure that the registry is either fair or an asset to prevent sex crimes.
I say this to remind the new people we have here, the ones whose loved ones have been arrested or convicted in the last few years; the public perception of the registry is much more negative than it used to be.
This should give us much hope for the future.
Someday the registry in the form we have today will be abolished. The legislators have added so many restrictions because of the registry that it is only a matter of time before the courts, perhaps the United States Supreme Court, someday rules its use as punitive. When that happens, the registry will be gone.
We all need to hang together and support each other. Like the British people in 1940, our day will come.

"Never give in -- never, never, never, never, in nothing great or small, large or petty, never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy."
Sir Winston Churchill (speech at Harrow School, 1941)
British prime minister (1874 - 1965)

This guy is a complete train wreck. The epitome of a career criminal scumbag! But, The System wouldn't know it because it paints EVERYONE with the same damned broad brush!!!
Read the article. Then, tell me if this situation doesn't SCREAM in favor of REFORM.
If this screwed up system would focus on the true predators and not the romeo/juliets and the people pissing in an alley or someone who made a one-time mistake, then maybe those people would be alive and that poor baby wouldn't have been put through the unthinkable. The System is in place to serve one thing: The System...and not the people. This list is over-bloated with 750,000 names...it's useless. WHAT DID THE REGISTRY DO TO PROTECT THESE VICTIMS???? Not a fucking thing!!!! How can it??? It can't!!!!!
One day someone is going to wake the fuck up and realize that this one-size-fits-all scheme is only making this kind of crap worse!!!!!!!!!!
"The 24-year-old has been "in and out" of jail since 2007, Kaci Schroeder, a spokeswoman for the Department of Corrections, said Monday.
In 2009, he was arrested for sneaking into a Togiak home and attempting to sexually assault an 11-year-old girl while the family slept, then assaulting three members of the household, according to an account at the time from the Alaska State Troopers.
He was convicted the next year in a Dillingham court on charges of attempted sexual abuse of a minor and trespassing."
