Which Arkansas jail is he in?

I will give you a piece of advice. If you decide to contact someone further up the chain of command, do not be surprised if the jailers and people who supervise the jail your son is in become angry and take it out on your son.
Jails, especially in a redneck, good ol' boy state as Arkansas, do not feel as if they have to answer to anyone-----and their supervisor may have much the same attitude.
No, it is not right and the jailers and deputies may not do anything, but there is a distinct possibility they will retaliate in some subtle manner against your son.
If it were me, especially if the canteen represented a small amount of money, I would probably just drop it.
We have to learn to choose our battles wisely and if there is just a few dollars involved here, I would just leave it alone.

now it was the company fault that it hadn't got there then yes start fighting them but seeing that its the prison and you don't want your son to do the time any harder then need bee i wouldn't be kicking up......yes they have a right to there mail and things bu they only pretty much get it if and when the prisons feel like it.
sorry to say that but as rew said pick your fights crafully none of this is right but the cos and whatnot think they are above the guys there but the funny thing is once your son is home the cos and whatnot who have made this hard will still be going back there and doing time a different sort of time but they will still be there.
I understand how upset you must be. As the old saying goes don't mess with my kid or my money and sadly you are experiencing both at the same time. My daughter is incarcerated and I would be livid too. I agree with Rew you don't want retaliation for your son but I'm not certain I would just kiss that $40 goodbye either.
Tiger commissary headquarters are in Jonesboro. You could ask them if goods not being delivered are a frequent complaint with this particular jail. I dealt with them when my daughter was in Oklahoma county but never had any problems.
If you decide to pursue a conversation with the administrator try to find out his name by searching the county web site or call the sheriff's office Monday and ask the secretary for the administrator's name. I would suggest writing a letter then you can read it several times and even ask a couple of friends to read it before you mail it. Unfortunately there may not be much you can do about it this weekend.
When my daughter was being held I found the night shift staff more compassionate. You could try calling after midnight and see if the staff are more willing to look into the order for you.
Good luck, I hope the problem can be straightened out soon.
i do hope this gets sorted for you soon.
If you want to pursue this, then I would not contact the local jailers who watch over your son. In many county jails, the people who work there are local yokels who too often are petty and become irritated when someone wants them to do their job. They have more or less direct control over your son as they have contact with him every day, and it is very easy from them to retaliate against your son.
Instead, find the administrator of the jail system in your state. Write a letter, be polite, and explain your situation. Explain to them that you are his MOTHER. I always emphasize that in any instance in which a son is involved to always emphasize that you are his MOTHER. That seems to get the most done.
Then let the administrator be the "bad guy" who confronts the jailers and the local jail handles. Let him deal with the situation. Chances are that you will never get a satisfactory answer dealing with the local jail officials anyway.

PS And yes, Janie, many of the people who work in corrections are trash.
