This community is dedicated to families that have been disrupted by prison. Having a loved one incarcerated or having been incarcerated comes with its own unique challenges that require support and understanding. Being in prison is already hard, being deprecated from your family and not having contact with most of them, but Hub is constantly being told that he should expect a Dear John letter.
I continually tell him, that I married him 'till death do us part' and I meant every word of that. I write letters every day, telling him how much I and his kids love and miss him. I travel 4 hrs each way, to spend just one hour with him twice a month. I send books, and put money on his canteen. I do a lot to show him how much I love him and will never leave him. He knows this is true, because of all the reasons I listed.

Sometimes it's just hard for him when he hears it all the time, especially from the CO's when they deliver his daily mail.
This kind of thing is what those men see that say this kind of stuff. One person it happens to in a huge group of men, and then they say everyone's woman is going to leave them. I sure haven't.
My guy has been in at least 3 times since we met. I stood by him every time. It was never easy, and sometimes I wondered why I did, considering the horrible things he did when out drinking. But I guess in my heart, I knew the drinking was because of alcoholism, a DISEASE. And you don't give up on someone with a disease, such as cancer. Luckily, this time it seems that he has really changed, because he really wants to this time.
So to all of those who say stupid things like that, well I hope it happens to them, and not the decent, nice men, who have people who love them forever.
In some ways prison, and waiting for them can make your relationship stronger. It surely is a test of our love and commitment to each other.
Most of the guys in prison who have wives, girlfriends, and mothers who post on this particular board are the best inmates, the cream of the crop. How do I know that? Because the ladies here are high quality human beings, with courage and dedication, and they would not normally be attracted to some of the scum you see in prison. These type of relationships usually endure the rigors of prison.
These guys have the type of woman who WILL wait on him and be faithful. The other inmates, the ones who have never had a trusting relation ship will never understand this.
I would not even have to meet some of you ladies guys to know that they are pretty decent human beings. The fact that you have decided to associate and wait for them tells me all I need to know.
Many of the guys in prison who tell other inmates that his wife or girlfriend will leave or divorce him have never had a meaningful relationship in their entire life, so they are not the best to judge situations like this. These inmates have no values or character, so yeah, they have no concept of a loving, enduring relationship with a women. These inmates are so trashy that, yeah, any woman would probably leave them in prison because some of the types of women they would consort with are low class and would leave them in an instant if something better came along.
And many of the inmates are just jealous of any other inmate who has a loving woman waiting on the outside. They take great pleasure in telling other inmates that their woman will leave them. They are miserable human beings so they want to make others around them feel awful too. Misery loves company, you know.
Do not underestimate some of the low lifes you meet in prison.
The ladies on this board have taken up the time and energy to create an account here and had the courage to post and tell their problems to strangers they will most likely never meet. Trashy women would not even take the time or bother to get on this board because they do not care.
Hang in there ladies. It will be worth the wait.
