Two in Dept. of Corrections system

My son was recently sent to BJCC. I am going to a non-contact visit this weekend. Are there any out there that has had there son complete this program and never return?  I notice most of the post are from years ago. I also visit the man I love, weekly in a local county jail that has just been sentenced to 2 years. I just hope to hear some good come from this place. My son dropped out of school, was told he could get his GED at BJCC. Is this true? Can they help him with some mental things?  His dad passed when he was 11, so no doubt he needs some help but would never go to a counselor with me.  Anything good about this facility?

This facility is located in Alva, OK... Bill Johnson Correctional Center.

I don't know anything about the facility so i can't help you on that, i just want to say i hope you are doing okay. I am sorry that you have two people that you in love in the system right now. i hope that your son can get the help that he need and that they have programs there that will help him. If they do encourage him to take them. Programs can help so much, my boyfriend has been in for 3 months now and the programs he has been offered is completely changing him and his life for the better. if you ever need anyone to talk to or just have someone listen to you this is a great group to do that. We all can understand each other and sometimes you just need a place to vent. I hope your visit with him goes well and you get some answers soon to your questions.

I have a son in RSAT in Georgia. It is a residential substance abuse treatment program. He is in prison but attends this program. It is a nine month program. He has classes Mon-Thurs. He has to take a test before advances to the next phase. The program can go longer if there are any setbacks with the inmate. I have ask him if he thought the program has been helpful to him. He seems to think that he has learned more from this than any other program he has attempted to try. My son is 19 and has been in and out of jail since he was 17. As a mother, this has been the hardest thing to deal with daily. All I can do is be supportive and pray that when he gets out he will follow a straight life. Take care of yourself and try to find a reason to smile every day.
