This is like a nightmare. He's been in county two months and we still have no idea what he's looking at. Not knowing is torture.
Robbery in the Third Degree does not require a mandatory term of imprisonment like the higher degrees of this crime. However, the maximum term of prison is two and one third to seven years in prison.
Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree is an "E" felony. "E" felonies are the lowest level felonies in the New York Penal Law, but are still felonies. Crimes of this level or degree, including NY PL 155.30, carry no minimum sentence for a first time offender. This means jail, prison, probation, community service, a fine, restitution or a conditional discharge are all potential sentences. At the same time, a first time offender could be sentenced to up to one and one third to four years in prison
Robbery third degree-------maximum is 2 1/3 to seven years in prison.
Grand Larceny fourth degree------1 1/3 to four years in prison.
If he pleas, which I am sure he will do, the DA will probably drop one of the two charges and only prosecute him on one charge. Or the DA could run the two charges together (concurrently) into one charge. This would be in exchange for a guilty plea.
I am sure they will not run the charges consecutively (one right after the other) with a plea.
Remember the judge can suspend some or part of either sentence and give him probation in lieu of prison time.

I'm trying to stay calm & focused. I've been out in the snow today. It's sunny and beautiful outside, and the fresh air really helps. :)
At this point the confession means very little, as your guy has formally admitted his guilt.
In a blind plea, it is an admission of guilt in front of a judge and the judge and only the judge sentences him.
Yes, there will be a plea even though he confessed.
