Please don't let any of that put you off sending things to your loved ones! I used to send letters to m love almost daily i also was able to send pics, magazine's.....gaming ones and sooooo many car ones! Books normally i would read them first thdn send them to him. I did also send him birthday cards and Christmas cards......yes most places have rules about crads so check it out beforehand.
The other good thing about writing to them theres not a time limit like visits or calls and you can take your time explaining things to them.
My DH and prison penpal both love letters that I send. I send about 1-2 letters a day. Even though they only respond about once 2-3 times a month, I know they love receiving the letters.
for my DH, I use this APP called SPLETTER throughout the day to jot down every thought, every time I think of him. It composes a letter on my phone, prints and mails it to him. So I write a little throughout the day, on the bus, waiting for appt, and I take pics throughout the day and attaches it to the letter all on my phone. then just before bed, I send it using the app and it gets printed and put in the mail for me. Pretty damn convenient!
For my penpal, I write him a continuous story, for about 2 years now, I've been writing him a story about a boy searching for himself in a world of evil. Sometimes it's 3 pages, sometimes its 1 paragraph. But something every single day. I use the same App Spletter for that too, bc all my letters are saved. I swear, I am going to publish that story as a book soon! LOL
I've also played little guess what I am games to my DH letters. but he got bored of that quick. Lol
