Hello all!
I'm a wife, mama of three and my husband of 13yrs is in prison (1.5yrs of a 35 sentence).
One moment at a time. One hour at a time. One day...one week...one month...one year at a time. Time drags on and yet speeds past us. Grace for our self and sooo much more grace for everyone else.
Life has options if we dare to step into boldness and be the change that we want to see in this world.
Forgiveness is key. Forgiveness brings freedom for the one who chooses to walk forgiveness out. Forgiveness isn't justification it's releasing ones own self from the prison of bitterness & resentment.
Once we know we can't unknow. And now I know and I'm choosing to listen, learn and get into action in making our world a better place for all humans. We must see our one common thread-Humanity.
To be an ostrich with our head in the sand is stupid. To be the ostrich who runs to bring change in our homes, lives, communitys and world...we must run.
Do we want this space absolutely not and yet, "This is it..." We now have an opportunity to rise up, speak up and bring change for the voiceless and all of humanity.
It's a big task and we need each other!

Do any of you have a comfort item? Maybe you carry it around with you? Or pull it out at home when you need to feel safe? I have several. One is a prayer shawl I received as a gift from a lady I worked with. This was after my first serious attempt. My coworkers made a gift basket filled with candy stuffed animals and other nice things. When I feel depressed I put the shawl around me and I...

Time can goes slowly in prison for sure
'Doing time'
I wish you and your family well moving forward
Sending healing hugs...xo
my family prison legacy is established enough that i grew up hearing that "the big house" is our family alma mater. that's where the big kids go to gain their higher education. you can get in without so much as a GED. it was a HS guidance counselor who called me in because of my uncommonly high test scores who explained what that meant outside my colorful family.
i managed to avoid marrying into another spin on that not-so-merry-go-round, but i did not manage to save my two sons from taking on the legacy of family members they had never met. i thought the 1800 mile safety zone would protect them, but the lord do work in mysterious ways.
we do, indeed, need one another. united we heal. divided we fall.
may the circle one day be broken
of violence, hatred and blame
a better home could be awaiting
if we join hands in healing prayer
for what it's worth
