If you just left----and they did not find any evidence of drugs on you----I don’t know how they could give him a misconduct and move him to higher security. They have to have evidence to give an inmate a misconduct. It is not usually done if they just “think” the visitor was bringing drugs into the institution. At least that is the procedure in any prison I was in or am aware.
If you refused the search, in some prison systems that is grounds to deny your visits for a period of time, but that is not usually grounds to get an inmate shipped to higher security.
There are avenues to possibly get your visitation privileges back. Go to your state’s DOC site and find out the procedure.
If you need some help, message me. I come over here a couple of times every day and would be glad to help.

I think you meant they gave him a misconduct, wrote him up, or gave him a ticket, whatever you want to call it. How was he supposed to receive any drugs if you did not even get into the visiting room?
I am not disputing your story, as I know that DOCs can do pretty much anything they want----even if it does not appear logical. He needs to try to get back to the medium security prison and maybe you can get your visits back.
I know prison is stressful, and things like this do not help. I hope things start to go better for you.
