My kid was involved with this guy when she was younger, he was in prison, they met up with each other after he was released, but she did not stay with him, she is with this one now for 6 years, and 2 children latter. She just found out that the ex is back in prison, they have been writing for about a month, placing me in the middle kind of. I hide her letters that he writes to her, now she wants to go see him tomorrow, 12/15/07, it makes me up-set cause she will not go up to my husband, the one she calls her daddy. Is she making a mistake going to see this ex? I think she is, but what the heck I'm only her mother, and she is grown. No, she really doesn't get along with the one she is with, but they have the 2 boys together. Should I stay closed mouth or not, she is a very arguemental kid.

We love our children deeply and always want to protect them and guide them. I agree with jeremynlaurie that you must let her make her own choice on this one although you may disagree. She is now an adult and must learn from her mistakes and make her own decisions....I think you should let her know how you truly feel about this but let her know you support her choices. Keep us posted, Lynn.

No, I'm not one that gets offended that easily. I'm one that can take constructive critizism although I see none here what so ever, and thank you for your in-put. Funny thing is her current boyfriend took the car today out of spite, its not his car to take, its my daughters, and I co signed for it only because their last car was falling apart, and she could not get a car on her own, I'm angry that he took the car, and she is furious because she couldn't go. So we will see?

He didn't know, he just didn't want her to go out of the house period. I could of went also, I have a so called friend there, thats why she found out the ex was there, but my choice was no, why, because if I can't see my husband I don't want to see any way, plus I did every thing for this guy when he was out, but when I needed him, he was to busy with his 18 and 19 year old females, and he is my age, soon to be 49. When some one hurts me like that, I tend to back off.

You can only tell her that you think she is making a mistake. If she chooses to go ahead and do this, then she is the one who has to live with the consequences. My son is 32 and realizes that mom really did know better when she advised him to go to college. Too late now, he's deeply in debt and his first marriage is out the window so not much chance of returning to school now unless one of us wins the lottery. Point is, they are adults and will do what they want to do, so be supportive but don't jump in to rescue them if they make the wrong choice.

Here's my two cents worth: I think that your daughter is wrong. It doesn't sound like closure to me, just plain old boredom and sick of not liking what is happening with her current relationship. She needs to act like a responsible adult and put her children first and figure out if she wants to stay with her current boyfriend. If not, kick him to the curb. They all live with you and so it has got to be hard on everyone. Adding someone else to the mix is only insanity. And you are her mom and not her best friend so you should not be in the middle of her game. I'm sorry if I am offending you but I don't believe in drama and I can say that first hand because my daughter would give me all the drama in the world if I let her! Tell her to grow up.

No, I don't think she is making a mistake, but she's goin out on a limb. May just have to step back and see what develops.
