Hi Everyone! I haven't been on in a while. I've been working like crazy here lately and today is my first day off in over a month. I hope everyone is doing ok and all of your loved ones too. My guy is still waiting on the Community Corrections so it's still a waiting game. But, I do have a couple of questions for anyone that might have gone through this....Right now I rent a room, not an actual apartment. I am looking around for a house or apartment so I can be settled when my guy does come home. It's really hard finding rental property that will accept a felon and add to that the fact that he will have to register as a SO :( I want to find a place that will be peaceful for both of us and also meets his parole requirements. Are there any resourses that help with this? Also, and this is kind of personal but when any of y'all are talking to your spouse/significant other do you sometimes get carried away with the conversation about when you get home (if you know what I mean lol) I was talking to my guy and we did and I admit I 'm kind of embarrassed now because I know all the phone calls are monitored. He laughs and tells me it's ok that they are used to it because we aren't the only ones but I don't want him to get into any trouble because I talked to him about sex. Some things are so hard!! As for sexy letters/phone calls, yep they've read it all and heard it all too lol! So by all means go for it!!! You just can't send sexy pics showing too much skin and stuff. You know sexy cute, but not too sexy if that makes sense.
Many states, cities, and local municipalities have residency restrictions for those on the sex offender registry. Depending on the state, an SO cannot establish a residence within “x” number of feet----usually anywhere from 500 to 2,000 feet-----of a school, daycare center, swimming pool, park, or anywhere that children are known to congregate. The distance and the prohibited places vary from state to state, but if you will tell me the state, I can give you a definite answer.
Also most states have “buffer zones” aka “child safety zones” where a SO cannot even be present. These zones prohibit a SO from being a certain amount of feet----usually 300 to 500----feet from a school, park, daycare center, etc. Most statutes read that the offender cannot “loiter” within the prohibited area.
The above two situations will affect him since he will be on the sex offender registry. You said he would be on parole, probation, or some form of paper time-----a form of supervised release. The PO will have to approve of any residence before he can move to that residence. It is possible that the PO will be even stricter than the registry requirements above. Keep that in mind.
You may have some problems finding suitable housing that will enable him to follow the rules of the registry, so let me give you a tip. Go to the state sex offender registry online. Each state has a sex offender registry with all the sex offenders on the internet. Once you are on the registry, do a search or browse around and see where the other guys are living or at least the area they are living. Since you know anyone on the registry is compliant with the law, your guy should be able to live in the same general area as the other offenders. In one of those areas is where you want to find housing.
You may also be able to ask the local PD or sheriff’s department if a certain residence is legal. They may have the town mapped to show the prohibited areas.
The ideal location for a sex offender registrant is in a rural area in which there are not many houses, but those are difficult to find. Usually it is best to get some distance from the “crazies” if a person is a sex offender.
Apartment complexes are not ideal places for sex offenders.
Some states send out notifications to the neighborhood when a sex offender moves in. Again, message me and tell me the state, and I can find all this out for you.

As far as the phone and conversation..... I was embarrassed at first like can't they hear me and don't they read my letters.
My fiancé said they would rather me be on the phone and walk outta this booth happy and content than to sensor my conversation and have me mad and misserable.
There's nothing that these COs haven't heard. What you thought was bad probably wasn't even near some of the worse stuff they've heard. And I'm sure they understand sometimes these men need it... and us women need it to. Good luck with the housing stuff
