Ask your family member if GTL is still going to be the carrier for what ever facility they are in? NY is losing the contract with GTL shortly, I think Freddy said at the end of the month they are going to be using calling cards, I'm not sure, and neighter is he as of right now, but I'm wondering if that will be more expensive, now I only paid GTL $3.20 for a half of hour phone call which was dirt cheap and I could afford the calls, he didn't call more then 4-8 times per month. But if one state is losing the contract with GTL, I wonder if other states are. Let me know! Hugs going out to you all.

Morning Mamabear! I know that where Toby is at just went to GTL in March. How are your phone calls so cheap? I have a local number that he calls to and mine are $10 for 25 minutes. Is there something that I'm missing? Or is it because it's going to my cell phone?

Shouldn't matter what the phone is for the rate. I'm not sure what the rates are that I'm paying. I just know that 25 lasts a few weeks about 4 phone calls that are 15 minutes each. It's a lot cheaper then straight out collect calls.

I have no clue, I just regret the fact that NY is losing the contract. PRB as of now he can not make phone calls to my cell phone, the calls coming in are collect calls. If they go phone cards through comminsary I fear the cost is going to go up.

Wow, so you don't have to do the prepaid thing like I do. I figured that if I had a land line, it would be more expensive to have straight collect calls versus pre paid. It is something I am going to look into. Thanks for letting me know mamabear. In regards to the calling card, I would think it would be cheaper that way than the collect calls.I guess it would depend. I know that GTL offers calling card options for prisons. You may be able to call them and get some info of the rates that you may be looking at even if they're not the carrier.

AZ is going to another copmany as well, actaully I think they already did change.
