My fiance has someone that will contact me if there is anything going on with him that would prevent him from being able to call me. Whether it is he is sick, and can't use the phone, or if he got in some sort of trouble. He has had to use this a few times and you still wonder and worry what is happening to them, but at least you know some of the specifics.
Our situation might be a little different because he is in a federal camp and his restrictions our different then state or county prisons. I hope that any newbie will read this, I'm sure they will find it very helpful. You always seem to have the most useful information.
Thanks,
Pat
Mine had a heart attack after I left him at our visit. He had needed to go lay down, didn't feel good. None of the typical heart attack signs. He went through hell, and was scared to death, and they didn't call me.
I didn 't find out til the next day when he finally was brought back to his prison. They only kept him overnight. Not very good care. I was livid. I am listed as his next of kin. We aren't married yet. But I guess here, they don't even call the wives. They think we are going to be pesty about where they are, and how they are. Of course we would be. It should be our right!! What if he had died? He would of died alone. We can't go to them in a hospital, we can't find out any details even if someone had called for him, to tell me. They could die alone. That is his worst fear.
I guess as they were waiting for the ambulance to come take him to the hospital, he sat and cried, that he didn't want to die alone. One decent guard sat with him, waiting for the ambulance. When it got there the guard didn't have to go with, but volunteered to, and stayed with him at the hospital for several hours. That was great, not expected, and not normal. But I wish he could of just called me, told me what was happening, and at least I would of known something.
I was so angry. When I went to see him at the prison, I talked to a guard at the check in. I asked, What if he would of died, how would I have known? That ass said, " I guess when you got to the visit and he didn't come into the room, you would of known something was up" Boy they can be awful.
It didn't matter we lived together, it didn't matter we were engaged, or that I was his next of kin, and emergency contact he had listed with them.
