Families of Prisoners Support Group
This community is dedicated to families that have been disrupted by prison. Having a loved one incarcerated or having been incarcerated comes with its own unique challenges that require support and understanding. Join the group to find others who know what you're going through, and to seek advice or share your experience.
BUT what some fail to realize is that in some instances, going to prison might save their loved ones life.
If the loved one was in the drug scene or in with a bad crowd, it was only a matter of time until the law of averages caught up with them and they would be in trouble anyway. And going to prison certainly gets them away from some of the bad influences and the drugs they were exposed to on the outside.
I told one mother whose son was heavily into the drug scene, that "prison may have saved his life. If he would have continued on the path he was on, your son might have wound up in a ditch with a bullet hole in the back of his head."
Imissmyson, I think we exchanged a few messages a few months back. Glad that things seem to be working out so well. Your son can make a fresh start and hopefully get on with his life.

Rew, yes we have exchanged messages before, you have been very helpful and insightful in those messages and I especially reccomend this book to you if you have not already read it, because the insights in this book fit right into your ministry to loved ones of prisoners. Thanks again everyone.

Talking about books, another book that is awesome is A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle. He explains about how all suffering, illness, addiction, violence, can be traced back to the ego. (or if you are Christian, the devil) (To me "devil" is just the personification of the ego) Anyway haha, not starting a religious debate here but God speaks to us in so many ways, through so many people.
And Rew is right. My son even said, " Don't be sad mom, I am where I need to be. If I was out there, I would have done something worse and ended up in prison forever, or I would be dead, so be glad I am here, and safe."
Then he really got his Sh..t together, got out, is working hard, and a real DAD now. He is on number FIVE.. he has 2, she has 2, and now they are having a girl in Aug.
We may hate that they were taken from us, but in my son's case, I think it was the only way have turned out ok.
