I don't feel very strong today. I feel defeated... The lawyer I got for my guy has been evading my calls. I have left several. I called his office today and spoke with the secretary. She was to email me the retainer that I signed and that was never given to me to date. I still don't have it. She said our lawyer has been on trial for three weeks. I understand they have other cases but what about our case? My guy is important to me and I don't want to go to another court date just to be told that its going to be continued because our lawyer has had other things going on. Its not fair.
I feel like I've let him down. When he calls and asks what is happening and I can't tell him anything. I have questions and so does he but the lawyer has been missing in action. I can't get the retainer back and I still owe on it.... I can't get another representation for him. I don't know what to do.
Patience is not my best trait... I shouldn't have to have patience. Our lawyer should at least call me back even if its just to tell me that he is still working on things. I'm a mess and we have court the on November 21. I don't know what he plans on doing, or if he has the report, I have questions that need answers. I want to know the plan of resolving some of what is going on.
Any suggestions what I can do? Firing him is not an option.. And he did really have a good outlook on helping my guy when we met. I just feel like crying again. Though, I know that that is not going to help me or him.

I hate to tell you this, but even if the attorny was there, there will be continual delays. That's what they do as they are looking over the case and evidence and preparing for trial or arguements to have charges dropped. I know it's frustrating right now, but there is nothing more you can do right now. You have called, and have been told that he has been in trial. He should at the very least call you back, I agree.
Patience is something we all struggle with, especially with the court system. Let them keep extending out the court dates. You wouldn't want the attorny to rush this into trial without talking to both of you, so let this play out.
I wanted the same thing, hurry up and get this over with, but in doing so, screwed us all when he was found guilty and his attorny barely spoke to any of us.
Memories fade with time, witnesses think it over and are not as willing to testify against the defendant, and sometimes the DA gets tired of the case and offers a much better plea bargain.
As more and more time goes by, complaining witnesses or victims think twice and decide they do not want to pursue it any longer and the state has to drop the case.
Given enough continuances and delays, sometimes the DA's case just falls apart and the state has to drop the charges, which would be the best deal for you and your man.
So stalling is not always bad.
Defense attorneys know this and never complain about continuances or delays.
