They have several assessment centers across the United States, so I do not know which one she will initially be sent.
She will only be there for three weeks to a month, and you will probably not be able to visit here during that time. Also, letters and the mail might be slow or iffy.
Once she is evaluated, she will be sent to her destination prison. She will then send you some visiting forms, which you must fill out and send back to the prison. You must then be approved before you can visit, which you will be.
You cannot visit until and unless you have been approved by the prison.
Most state prisons have different visiting days and visiting regulations. I suspect federal prisons are much the same way. When you fill out the forms and mail them back, your daughter can write you and inform you of the days and times that you can visit. If you are not sure, you can find web site on the internet of the specific prison she is at and it will tell you the times to visit and all the rules.
Read the rules carefully. Prisons can be picky about what visitors can wear on a visit, and they are also picky sometimes on the colors that you are allowed to wear. Of course, your daughter can tell you all about that. If you are still not sure, call the prison or find the prison's website and it will give you all the information you need.
One tip, when you decide to visit. The first couple of times it might be a good idea to take two or three sets of clothes and a couple of pairs of shoes. If you should not be wearing the right kind of clothes, you can change into one of the other sets you brought. It would be terrible to drive a long distance and then not be allowed in to visit.
I was in state prison in Oklahoma for several years, and this is the procedure for state prisons. I am fairly certain that the same procedure is used for the federal system also.
Happy visiting and good luck,

After my first day's visit (I spent four days in a nearby town), I drove around the county looking for cheap clothes. I hadn't taken much extra money with me, so it had to be really cheap! I found a Savers store where I bought a few garments that complied with all of the rules.
Yeah, take extra clothes with you to leave in the car.
My son didn't want for us to come to his sentencing either for the same reasons you said your daughter doesn't want for you to come to hers. We were going to go anyway but then his attorney fully encouraged the courtroom to be filled to show support for him and to send a message to the judge and the prosecutor. There were 40 of us there. I was really upset as I shared in my original post, to see him shackled up.
Check out the bop website that was provided to you in this thread. It has all of the visiting and mailing guidelines. We have had the newspaper sent to him and when he moves and is settled in his new place, we will send more things. Everything has a way that has to be sent within their guidelines. I haven't put money on his books through the federal system but when he was detained in county, we did.
I hope and pray that she is OK and that this will scare her straight like I pray for my son to be. Scared in the sense that they don't ever want to do something like this again.
When you go see her take a spare set of cloths and shoes its for there guidelines and if you have a wardrobe malfunction....like what happened to me!
