I don't agree with capital punishment there's something just wrong about it.
The system is so flawed that innocent men are being handed down death sentences. Also, the criminal justice system is unfair to minorities and poor people----who make up an disproportionate number of people given the death penalty.
It is too flawed to be reliable when it comes to taking away something as precious as a man's life. Yes, I know that some crimes are so egregious and so terrible that they might deserve the death penalty, but there is always life without parole.
And now that we cannot figure out the proper combination of drugs to make it painless, this is a good time to abolish the entire barbaric procedure.
Personally, I believe that only God---or the higher power you believe in----has the right to make a decision of life or death. I know I am surely not wise enough to make a decision like that----and I would not want to anyway.
The death penalty is nothing but retribution and based on revenge. We need to stop that way of thinking.

On top of that are the very disturbing accounts of inmates being administered lethal injections which cause them to gasp, jerk uncontrollably, writhe in pain, and ultimately die of heart attacks and/or strokes. This is not acceptable, no matter what the crime. A society that condones torture and murder under any circumstances is in deep trouble.
