I was in the Oklahoma prison system for eight years.

Bill Johnson Correctional Center is a minimum security facility. It has a regimented boot camp program for inmates. They call this the RID program.

But it was known throughout the system for its drug rehab program, which was the best in the state.

It is a work camp, and I knew some guys who had been there.

As a mother I know you are worried about his safety. BJCC is probably one of the safest prisons in Oklahoma. It is a minimum security prison and in all my eight years, I never heard of anyone getting hurt there.

It is not like some of the medium security prisons in Oklahoma where violence is common.

I personally think it is one of the safest and probably best place to do time.

rew, This post has absolutely nothing to do with me and I can offer no other information I just wanted you to know that you amaze me. Whenever a wife or mother has ?'s like this one you almost always seem to have the right answers. My husband has been in federal for 8 years the last 2 in a NJ camp, I don't have any ?'s yet but when and if I do I'm going to look you up.

I just care about the ladies, the wives, the mothers, and the girlfriends that have the courage to stand by their man in prison. It takes a special woman indeed to ignore all the criticism you receive, some of which is from your own family, to love your guy when he is in prison.

If anyone knows anything on this board, you have to know I love each and every women here.

My passion for the woman who are supporting their guys in prison was instilled in my soul almost two decades ago. I was convicted and sent to prison for a sex crime against a child that I did not even commit. I spent eight years and I learned a lot about people.

I was convicted because of several people who lied and perjured themselves in court, so dishonesty and corruption made a major negative impression on me.

It is because of this that my heroes are not sports stars or famous personalities, but they are the little people who are HONORABLE and NOBLE. In my book, HONOR is a the number one trait.

And what is more honorable or noble than loving and supporting a guy that is in prison? Nothing. You ladies are the salt of the earth whether you know it or not. You are special ladies. What's more you are "my people" because of your love, compassion, and mercy for other human beings.

How is your son doing? My son will be going to the RID program he was just sentenced last week.

I am looking for some of the same information as you, but now 3 years later. My son was recently sent to BJCC. I am going to a non-contact visit this weekend. Are there any out there that has had there son complete this program and never return? I notice most of the post are from years ago. I just hope to hear some good come from this place. My son dropped out of school, was told he could get his GED at BJCC. Is this true? Can they help him with some mental things? His dad passed when he was 11, so no doubt he needs some help but would never go to a counselor with me. Anything good about this facility?

Only thing good about him being there is he will get his GED. Other than that the whole program is a joke. You can get misconducts or level drops for anything. The staff are racist, encourage fighting, and often cause people to get jumped and beat by several people on purpose. There are a few counseling teachers there that care but other than that nothing in the program tries to help the inmate. A realistic reincarceration rate after leaving bill johnson is probably 90 percent. The staff caused 2 race wars while I was there. They bet each other on who can issue the most write ups. They belittle and demean and constantly talk shit to inmates. I saw a kid get maced in both eyes for nothing more than trying to finish his lunch. It is not common for an inmate to miss meals or have to throw them away because of the staff. I could go on and on. And btw this is just my obversations of treatment of other inmates and im white. I never got in trouble there and have no vendetta i was lucky and stayed under the radar and have more self control than most. As far as the mental issues they dont even see a mental health person in tge flesh its on camera. Even so all they do is prescribe medicine that makes people completely retarded or another that people eat the whole months script at once to get fucked up. Your son will remain sober though there are no drugs or phones or anything there.
