I am trying to get a copy of my boyfriends court records, arrest records, etc. Is there a way for me to get them for free? I have seen several sites that want you to pay for them, but I thought there was an Open Records law or something. Any advice on where to start?
He got 25 yrs for a misdemeanor! That's more than some murderers, rapists, thieves or child molesters get!! I want to try and help get him a new trial or get him out for time served. But I need the records so I can approach the Innocent Project for help.

can I ask what he is in for?? It does sound like a crazy sentence for a misdemeanor. are you sure they didn't drop the misdemeaner charges and make him plead to a felony?? my brother had 44 counts from the Feds when first indicted. They dropped the 43 misdemeanors and he had to plead out to the one felony.
Is this a state or federal charge?? federal docs are much harder to get a hold of. I know the lawyer will need a signed letter from your BF saying it can be released to you. Hope this helps
