We were just talking about this last night on the phone! He said they moved him to another cell and he has a lot of letters, and he doesn't want to part with any of them. I asked him if he could ship them home and he was going to find out. I think he can buy postage at commissary...? I'll let you know what we find out.

Ya he was pretty upset and actually they had a huge shake down because someone was killed in that facility (not his building thank goodness so scary to hear about) so he didn't get the chance to pick which ones to save :( he ha to do it fast it was sure disappointing to hear. But oh well it's just life I will have to keep writing

It was another inmate! Yes thank goodness we are in NM. It is okay it such a scary thing to go through.

Down hear our guys can send stuff out so every so often he will tell meon a visit that tthere's a box for me to pick up.
That sucks that they made him throw them out.

I know have every letter my husband has sent to me. I also know he can not keep very many that I send to him. So that's one good thing about his JP4 he can keep them in it and I also have everyone he has sent me and I have sent him through this and I also print them out and keep them. It's sad for him when ever he had to get rid of letters from me.

I can't visit or haven't been able to yet I can ask him is giving then to his parents when they visit

When I read about email I feel the same way... I wish we had that option.

The prison looks at excess letters as a fire hazard, so they do not like for any inmate to have too many at one time. I don't know how valid the fire hazard excuse was, but that is what they told me.

I always boxed mine up and sent them to the lady that was writing me.

By the time I was released, we celebrated by having a bonfire and burning them all. She did not want to keep them as she was afraid they might fall in the wrong hands someday.

She did not ever want anyone reading them because at the time I was incarcerated, I was so angry with the system that my letters were just filled with rage and anger. She did not want anyone reading all that.

Also, if any of you ladies have guys new in prison or will be going to prison, please allow me to give you some advice.

Tell your guy when he receives a letter to tear the return (your) address off the corner of the envelope and flush it. Nosey and jealous inmates sometimes will try to find out who is writing you and begin writing you themselves.

Trust me, you do not want your address getting out in the prison population.

I only ever put my name and post code/zip code on my loves letters for the reasons that rew has said.

I have to put full name and complete address or it gets trashed

Then tell him to rip that bit of the envelop off and flash it down the loo....don't want to scare you but its been known to happen for guys who have done time with your man to trune up on people door steps before your man is home. Yes I do know of a case like this happening.

That is scary I mean I have thought of it before but still scary

Just for that reason I use a PO box for all letters to and from my husband when we write. Hard for anyone to track it down.
