One qustion whats memorial day??
I don't know what I would do with your wit and humor from "down under."
You are young, but a very wise lady.
Memorial Day is an American holiday in which we all pay respects to the brave men and women throughout the years who were in the armed forces, especially those who shed blood and gave their lives for our freedom. It used to be called Decoration Day.
This is a very somber day for me as my father, a WW II veteran, passed on last October. He was always proud of his service in the Battle of Saipan, a skirmish to take one of the islands in the Pacific back from the Japanese.
In his honor, I am having a large American flag erected in my front yard. I always said I would never do that, but things change sometimes and I want to honor my father.
BTW, isn't is SO SAD that the courageous men and women have died for the freedoms in this country and now many people are so willing to give those hard earned freedoms away just for a little security? I think it is a tragedy.

I meant to say "I don't know what I would do without your wit and humor from the land "down under."
I need to edit my posts a little more carefully.

I have a framed tee-shirt (that I got at The Wall) with a picture of a wounded soldier being carried by two medics. The caption reads: All gave some, Some gave all.
For you younguns, The Wall is the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. I lived in D.C. during the 70s, and I remember when it was being constructed.
It sounds the same as ANZAC day that we have hear in rembernc of thoes who did and those who did not come home my granddad being one of them and that i never meet coz from ww2.
It is sad the so many young men and woman lost there lifes for rights that people now just give away i think they forget thats why the went in the first place.
Thank you for explaing it to me Rew.
Lest we forget..... Its what we say down hear on ANZAC day.
I just spent today visiting my daughter in FPC. She has a long sentence ahead of her but I feel hopeful. She has started a 10 month long business school program through one of the local college's. Somehow we both found happiness again in spite of her sentence.
Thank you and other kind souls who reached out to me. I think your new flag is going to fly as a beautiful tribute to your father's memory.
