My husband and I did everything together. I am not originally from Florida and have only been living here for a short time. I have 1 friend here, so it has been really hard. But...I can honestly say that I have found myself and I am okay standing on my own. However, I can't wait for the day that he comes home to me. I miss my best friend! Only 431 more days to go! :-)
Hang in there, time will start moving faster for you both and you will soon find that he is going to want you to go out and do things. He will want you to enjoy life and will welcome hearing all about it.
I agree with lwayne. It doesn't get easier, but you'll gain coping skills as time passes and you start to recover a bit. I think keeping busy is a good thing to do.
But, sometimes we have to look for it and try to find it; it is not always obvious.
For all the older posters here, just think back. At one time you were confused about your guy going to prison. BUT at some point the picture began to get clearer and you found the HOPE that was always there in the first place.
Sometimes people are so emotionally overwhelmed and confused by their situation that they are not able to understand that there is indeed some hope present. In those situations, it is valuable to talk to someone who has been there who can realistically analyze the situation.
Many people who have loved ones in prison are traumatized in the beginning and don't know where to turn.
This is what this great support board is for---to helps us all, but to shield the newbies from all the confusion that is bound to happen in situations where a loving mother, wife, or girlfriend is patiently waiting for their guy to come home.
